The year 2025 is also going to be very important for the country’s politics. Next year, assembly elections will be held in the country’s capital Delhi and the big state Bihar. There is Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi for the last 10 years. At the same time, there is NDA coalition government in Bihar. A tough contest can be seen between BJP and other parties in these two states.
Delhi Assembly Elections: Talking about politics, the year 2025 will start with the assembly elections in Delhi. Delhi Assembly elections can be announced in the first week of January. Assembly elections will be held in Delhi in February, preparations for which are going on in full swing. This time a tough contest can be seen between Aam Aadmi Party and BJP in Delhi.
Bihar Assembly Elections: Assembly elections are to be held in Bihar in the year 2025 (Bihar Assembly Election 2025). All political parties have already started preparations. These cases will pass through the Supreme Court
The Supreme Court will hear many important cases in the year 2025, on which the eyes of the entire country will be. This is a case which will have far reaching social, religious and political impact on the country.
Services dispute in Delhi: By making a law, the Central Government had given the control of services in Delhi in the hands of LG. Delhi government took this matter to the Supreme Court. In the year 2025, the Supreme Court has to hear the petition challenging the Central Government law related to services in Delhi. On May 19, 2024, the Supreme Court had referred the case to a constitutional bench of five judges.
Laws related to money laundering: The Supreme Court will hear the review petition filed challenging the provisions of the Money Laundering Act in the year 2025. The opposition party has taken this matter to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court had rejected the petition challenging the provisions of the PMLA Act in 2022. After this a review petition was filed.
Matter of appointment of election commissioners: In the year 2025, the Supreme Court will hear the petition challenging the law made for the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner of India and Election Commissioners. An important decision has to be taken on this matter. The court has asked the Center and the Election Commission to file their reply in this matter. The new law made for their appointment has been challenged by filing an application in the Supreme Court.
Testing of Places of Worship Act: The Supreme Court will hear petitions challenging the constitutional validity of the Places of Worship Act 1991. Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna, Justice Sanjay Kumar and Justice K.V. Vishwanathan’s special bench will hear this case. This law, as of August 15, 1947, prohibits legal action to maintain the status quo of religious structures and to change them. The impact of this case will be seen on the ongoing disputes regarding mosques from Sambhal in UP to Uttarakhand.
Marital rape a crime or not? , In the year 2025, the Supreme Court will hear the marital rape case, which is a matter related to every married man. In this, the application filed against keeping the husband in exception has been filed in the Supreme Court. In the last hearing, the court had said that it would examine the constitutional validity of the provision of keeping the husband in the category of exception in rape cases in the IPC and BNS. There is a provision in Exception 2 of Section 375 of IPC and Section 63 of BNS that if the wife is an adult, then the forced relationship of the husband with her will not fall in the category of rape. No action can be taken against the husband for this.
Challenge to the law against triple talaq: The Supreme Court had abolished the practice of triple talaq in the year 2017. The government made a law to stop triple talaq, which has been challenged in the Supreme Court. The central government had said in the Supreme Court that despite the Supreme Court declaring triple talaq unconstitutional, it was not effective in reducing its number.
