Mohan Singh Bisht Won Muslim Dominated Mustafabad Seat: BJP’s Mohan Singh Bisht is being discussed not only in Delhi but across the country. During the Delhi elections, when tickets were announced, despite being an MLA from Karavalanagar seat, the ticket of Mohan Singh Bisht was cut and given to Kapil Mishra. Mohan Singh Bisht got 85, 215 votes. Adil Khan got 67,637. On this seat, AIMIM candidate Tahir Hussain finished third with 33,474 votes and Ali Mehdi of Congress got 11,763 votes.

Mathematics of Mustafabad seat

Mustafabad is the assembly seat where 39.5% of the Muslim population. Here AIMIM made Tahir Hussain, former councilor of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and accused of 2020 Delhi riots. Mustafabad in North East Delhi was one of the most affected areas during the 2020 riots. At least 53 people lost their lives in this riot. Mohan Singh Bisht also came into controversy during this riots. A woman accused him of leading the mob during the riots and setting fire to his shop. However, no allegations were filed against him.

Do you lose due to AIMIM?

This is the reason that the Aam Aadmi Party is now saying that due to AIMIM, she lost this seat. But she is also saying this for the Congress. Actually, your vote share has fallen a lot on this assembly seat too. AAP candidate has got 33.62 percent votes on this seat. At the same time, BJP candidate has 42.36 percent. If you are alleging that she lost due to AIMIM because the Muslim votes were divided, then the Muslim population is only 39.5%. Meaning, even if you got all the Muslim votes in the last election, even then it was cut only 6 percent. The Election Commission data shows that the AIMIM candidate got 16.64 percent votes. It is clear that the Hindu votes of your candidate are also cut. This means that the way Hindu votes are divided, similarly Muslim votes are also distributed. This shows that more than Hindu-Muslim in elections, AAP is lying on the functioning of the government and the promises of the candidates and their party.

Who is Mohan Singh Bisht

The BJP, after sensing this, fielded Mohan Singh Bisht on this seat. He is considered an experienced leader in Delhi politics. He was first elected MLA from Karawal Nagar in 1998. He retained this seat till 2015. However, in 2015, he lost to Kapil Mishra, who contested the election on AAP ticket. Five years later, Bisht defeated AAP’s Durgesh Pathak and took over the city of Karawal. Mohan Singh Bisht is considered a very sociable leader. This is the reason that he has been winning elections again and again. On getting a ticket from Mustafabad, Mohan Bisht had said, “I was the MLA of Karawal Nagar from 1998 to 2008, when Mustafabad constituency was formed. People here have come on the streets in my support … There is a lot of support from the party too … I am sure Mustafabad will be the first seat that BJP will win. ”He proved his claim to be right by winning the Mustafabad seat.
