How did Jairam Mahato stand as a wall between BJP and victory in Jharkhand?

Jharkhand Election Results 2024: The results of Jharkhand assembly elections are out. Once again the public approved the Hemant government. In Jharkhand, India Alliance led by JMM won 56 seats. With this spectacular victory, JMM chief Hemant Soren retained power. This will be the second consecutive innings of Hemant Sarkar. BJP’s dream of coming to power for the second time in Jharkhand remained a dream only. Out of 81 seats in Jharkhand, India Alliance got 56 seats while BJP led NDA had to be content with only 24 seats. Now the question is, how did BJP’s game get spoiled in Jharkhand? Who stood as a wall between BJP and victory?

Actually, BJP had good preparation in Jharkhand. BJP had used its full strength to win the elections. everything was perfect. But there was one person who stood as a wall in his path to victory. He broke into 15 percent vote bank of BJK ally AJSU. Name is- Jairam Kumar Mahato. Yes, Jairam Mahato’s party JLKM defeated BJP in Jharkhand assembly elections. If Jairam Mahato has harmed anyone the most, it is NDA. The Jharkhand Assembly election results have confirmed Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha (JLKM) chief Jairam Mahato as the new face of the OBC Kurmi community in the state.

How many seats’ results were affected?
Even though Jairam Mahato’s party JLKM has won only one seat, it has influenced the election results on at least 14-15 seats. NDA suffered loss and India alliance benefited from this. Jairam Mahato’s JLKM had contested 71 seats in the state. Jairam Mahato’s party has been able to win only on Dumri seat. Jairam Mahato comes from Kurmi community. The head of AJSU Party in Jharkhand is also from this community. His party All Jharkhand Students Union i.e. AJSU contested elections on 10 seats in alliance with BJP. Of these, only one seat was won. That too by just 231 votes.

On how many seats did Jairam’s party contest elections?
Now the question is how Jairam Mahato harmed BJP. Actually, JLKM had fielded 71 candidates in the Jharkhand Assembly elections. Out of these, the votes received by Jairam Mahato’s party on 14 seats have led to the defeat of the BJP alliance. Let’s take Bermo seat for example. Here Jairam Mahato’s JLKM got 60,871 votes. Jairam lost the Bermo seat to Congress by just 29,375 votes. Here BJP was the third party. Here he got 58,352 votes. If Jairam Mahato had not been in the fray then perhaps this seat would have gone to BJP’s account.

On which seats did Jairam give a blow to NDA?
Like Bermo, there are at least 14 such seats in Jharkhand, where the votes received by Jairam Mahato’s JLKM were more than the victory margin. Jairam Mahato’s party lost a lot of votes on these seats. India alliance benefited from this and BJP alliance suffered loss. Silli, Bokaro, Gomia, Giridih, Tundi, Ichagarh, Tamar, Chakradharpur, Chandankiyari, Kanke, Chatra, Sindri and Kharsawan are the seats where the votes received by Jairam Mahato’s JLKM were more than the margin of victory. For this reason, the candidates of BJP and its allies had to face defeat on these seats. Otherwise, if the results of these 14 seats had been in favor of BJP, the political picture of Jharkhand would have been different today.

Who got how many seats in Jharkhand (81)?

    • JMM-34
    • BJP-21
    • Congress-16
    • RJD-4
    • CPI(ML)-2
    • AJSU-1
    • LJPRV-1
    • JDU-1
    • JKLKM-1
    • Other-1

How Jairam became a wall in front of BJP’s victory
Earlier, there was competition on these seats of Jharkhand only between BJP alliance and Congress alliance. But Jairam Mahato made the contest on these seats triangular. JMM has won 34 seats in Jharkhand. Jairam Mahato’s JLKM was the third party in 15 out of those 34 seats. This caused loss to the BJP alliance. If we look at the 56 seats of the India Alliance, then NDA candidates stood second in at least 24 of these seats. Jairam Mahato’s party was at third position on these seats. This means that NDA has suffered the most loss because of Jairam Mahato. Jairam Mahato has also hurt AJSU Chief Sudesh Mahato’s claim on the voters of Kurmi community. Kurmi community has 15 percent votes in Jharkhand. Jairam Mahato has indicated to tap the 15 percent Kurmi vote bank of the state in this election.
