I did not run away from Gandhi Maidan…; Prashant Kishor’s clarification after being embroiled in controversy due to BPSC protest

  1. Students protest against BPSC:Candidates have been protesting for the last several days demanding the cancellation of the 70th Combined Preliminary Examination of Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC). Meanwhile, there was a clash between the police and the candidates during the protest on Sunday, after which the police used water cannon on the protesters.
  2. What did Prashant Kishore say when he came into controversy: Jan Suraj Party leader Prashant Kishore also attended this demonstration by students. Seeing himself involved in controversies in this matter, Prashant Kishore said that I did not run away from Gandhi Maidan. The police brutally lathicharged. After my departure there was lathi charge.   3. Prashant Kishor had participated in the protest on Sunday:The teenagers reached the protest site on Sunday and left from there after about an hour. He accused Chief Minister Nitish Kumar that he “has gone to Delhi on a personal tour, but he has no time for the youth of his state.” Addressing the candidates, Kishor suggested that the students should ” -Sit on hunger strike in hundreds so that the health of fewer people is affected.
  4. Prashant Kishore made these 5 demands:Prashant Kishore said that our first demand is that re-exam should be conducted. The second demand is that the irregularities that have taken place should be investigated. The third demand is that the family of Sonu Yadav, who has committed suicide, should get financial assistance of at least Rs 10 lakh. The fourth demand is that those against whom criminal cases have been registered. The cases against them should be withdrawn. Our fifth demand is that action should be taken against those who lathi-charged the children.
  5. Chakka jam of students against BPSC: Many student organizations have announced chakka jam on Monday. After this announcement, people of the student organization took to the streets on Monday, due to which traffic is being affected. In Arwal, Chakka Jam supporters took to the road on Monday morning and blocked the road. In Patna, people took to the streets and protested against lathi charge and blocked the road. In this bandh, parents of the candidates also took to the streets.

What is the effect of Chakka Jam in Bihar: The protesters reached Bhagat Singh Chowk and raised slogans against the government and completely disrupted the traffic, leading to a halt on Patna-Aurangabad NH 139 and Arwal-Jehanabad NH 110. Bandh supporters have demanded an investigation into the question paper leak. The protesters say that the United Students Front has announced a chakka jam and we common people have also taken to the streets.
  7. Police lathicharge on students:On Sunday, when the candidates were protesting regarding their demands, the police tried to stop them. During this time a clash took place and the situation went out of control. Police used lathicharge and water cannon in the cold. The candidates are demanding cancellation of the preliminary examination and re-examination.
  8. What is the main demand of the students? The students are demanding cancellation of the entire examination and re-conducting the examination. The demand of the students is that the normalization process should be made transparent and its mathematical model should be made public. Students have been demanding strict action against those responsible for the paper leak. Students are demanding action against the officials responsible for lathicharge on students.
  9. Why is BPSC in controversy: 70th Combined Preliminary Examination, which was held on 13 December 2024. There is controversy regarding the same. Due to the delay in distribution of question paper and allegations of paper leak in the examination held at Bapu Auditorium in Patna, the candidates created a ruckus and demonstrated on the streets. Students allege that there were irregularities in the examination, the question papers were of substandard quality, and some questions matched the model question papers of private coaching institutes. They are demanding to cancel the entire examination and re-conduct it.
  10. What action will the police take in this case:A case has been registered against 600-700 unknown people including Prashant Kishor, his party president. Patna District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh told PTI on Sunday that the protesters tried to move towards the Chief Minister’s residence in the evening. Jan Suraj founder Prashant Kishore was also among the protesters.
