After Donald Trump won the presidential election in America, Ukrainian President Zelensky’s tone has also changed. Zelensky has said that the Russia-Ukraine war will end quickly if Trump is in power in America, but it would not have happened if he was not in power. Even during his election campaigns, Trump was seen continuously claiming to end the Russia-Ukraine war within a day, in which he said that he just wants Russian and Ukrainian people to stop dying.
Speaking to Ukrainian media outlet Suspilne, Zelensky said it was certain that the policies being discussed by Trump’s team would quickly end the war. Now that he is about to enter the White House, we have to believe that the war will end soon. He (Trump) has his own vision to end the war anyway, he has made a promise to his citizens and he will fulfill it.
Zelensky said he claimed that the war would end soon. However, he has not yet given any exact date regarding this. He said that the war should end. When I spoke to President-elect Trump on November 5, we both agreed that the war should end. During this entire conversation we did not have anything that belittled the situation in Ukraine.
What is Trump’s view on Russia-Ukraine war?
Throughout his election campaign, Trump has been continuously advocating ending this war. Trump was so angry with America’s resources being sent to Ukraine that he called Zelensky a businessman. During one of his rallies, Trump said that not Russian President Putin but Zelensky is responsible for this war. He had said that if he had been President, this war would never have happened. Now that this war is going on, he can end this war within just 24 hours.
According to a report by NPR, there is a fear among the Ukrainian public that during his presidency, Trump may ask Ukraine to give up its land to end this war. Trump’s colleague JD Vance had also presented a similar idea, in which he said that this entire part should be made a buffer zone.
After Trump won the presidential election, the Russian President said in the United Nations that Russia is ready for peace talks. Of course, Russia is ready to end the war if President Trump takes the initiative, but for any talks, care must be taken that Russia does not suffer any loss in it. He said that regarding Trump’s talk of ending the war overnight, Ambassador Gatilov said that let him try, we are realistic people, we are ready to compromise but we know that will not happen.
