IITian Baba at Mahakumbh: Gorakh Baba, also known as IIT Baba, did his engineering studies in the air space and aeronautical stream from IIT Bombay. It is clear from his name itself that he became Baba after engineering. Resident of Haryana, IIT Baba’s real name is Abhay Singh. Abhay Singh’s journey from engineering to becoming a monk is very interesting. He had a keen interest in photography, and needed a degree to pursue a career in this field. For this reason he also studied coaching for one year.
CNN News18 interviewed an IITian baba who decided to leave science for spirituality. This information came to light during a conversation, when the interviewer commented on the monk’s way of communicating. The interviewer said, “You are talking very well, it seems you are very educated.” On this Baba told that he has studied Aerospace Engineering from IIT Bombay.

When he came back to his thoughts, he asked Baba whether he had really studied Aerospace Engineering from IIT Bombay. “Yes,” replied Baba, whose name was later revealed to be Abhay Singh.
