Kapil Blue, Naiduniya, Indore. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is taking help of state -of -the -art technology to identify obstruction and encroachment during road construction under the National Highway. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and drone -based systems are being resorted to. A survey of four major national highways coming in 360 km of Indore division has been conducted, in which more than one thousand encroachments have been identified.
Physical verification removed from the list of obstacles
The special thing is that AI drone also identified some buildings of the government department in encroachment. However, NHAI removed these buildings after physical verification from the list of obstacles.
Illegal encroachments came out
NHAI has implemented a new system for encroachment and identity of highways across the country, which also includes four major highways of Indore division. According to officials, an aerial survey was conducted using drones to remove these encroachments, in which a large number of illegal encroachments have been revealed on major routes like NH 52 and NH 47.
47 encroachments were found on the 45 km long portion of Indore-Dewas NH 52. At the same time, 448 encroachments in 155 km on Indore-Gujarat NH 47 and 480 encroachments in 82 km of Indore-Khalghat and Khalghat-Maharashtra NH 52.
Drone makes videos
Drone survey was conducted between August and November 2024. The operator in a car moves along the highway and after reaching the height, pictures and videos of the highway are made from the drone. The drone’s high-definition camera technology identifies the encroachments.
These encroachments include both permanent and temporary structures. This includes trucks, construction materials, temporary shops and other obstacles parked on the roadside. Later these photos and videos are uploaded to the AI Tour, which identifies the obstruction and encroachment. Physical survey is also done after getting data.
Encroachments will be removed
Based on the data from the drone survey, NHAI is now preparing to remove these encroachments. For this, the cooperation of the concerned district administration will be taken. But before that the NHAI and the district administration will jointly conduct a physical survey of encroachment and obstructions. Objections will also be called from people before action. The obstacles will then be removed. So that the protest can be stopped.
The picture will change
The new technology has not only accelerated and easier the work of NHAI, but also has accuracy in the work. It will now be ensured that road construction work can be completed without any interruption. NHAI will bring the quality of highway projects in future. With this, work will be done within the time period.
There will also be a final survey
Many projects have used drone survey. After confirming the data from the air survey, the process of removing the actual encroachment will be done. By the way, drone technology has increased accuracy. Four major highways have also identified some such obstacles, which are temporary. In the survey, the road along the road along the road, or other temporary items, is also marked as encroachment, so they will be finally verified. The physical survey report is yet to come. – Sumesh Bone, Project Director, NHAI
