Ian Bishop, Irfan Pathan on Nitish Reddy Century vs AUS: The cricket world on Saturday praised Indian batsman Nitish Kumar Reddy, who scored his first international century in the Melbourne Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. In the final session of the day, Nitish Kumar Reddy scored his maiden international century in spectacular style by hitting the ball towards the mid-on fielder for a four while standing on 99 runs. Nitish is unbeaten after scoring 105 runs on 176 balls at a strike rate of 59.66. While at the crease on the third day of the Melbourne Test, he hit 10 fours and 1 six. The atmosphere at MCG became emotional, when Nitish’s father was thanking God with folded hands, shedding tears of joy. While coming to the pavilion after the innings, Nitish was appreciated by the Australian players and the Indian camp stood up and applauded.
Former cricketer VVS Laxman praised Nitish’s century in the Melbourne Test and said that when the team was in trouble, it was the perfect opportunity. VVS Laxman wrote on X, “What an amazing innings, dear Nitish. To become the third youngest Indian to score a Test century in Australia and to do so with a team in trouble was truly a wonderful moment. With his century, the youngster also achieved a major feat as he became the third youngest Indian batsman after Sachin Tendulkar and Rishabh Pant to score a maiden Test century in Australia. At the time of stumps on the third day, India was at 358/9, with Nitish (105*) and Mohammed Siraj (2*) unbeaten at the crease. The visiting team is still behind by 116 runs.
