IND vs AUS: “If technique..”, Sunil Gavaskar told whether Yashasvi Jaiswal was given wrong out or not

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Wicket decision controversy: In the second innings of the Melbourne Test match (IND vs AUS, 4th Test), Yashasvi Jaiswal was out after scoring 84 runs (Yashasvi Jaiswal Wicket, IND vs AUS). Jaiswal was caught by wicketkeeper Alex Carey. There was an uproar after Jaiswal’s dismissal. Actually, now former cricketers are reacting to the way Jaiswal was out. Pat Cummins bowled a shot ball to Jaiswal, on which the batsman hit a pull shot and the ball went to the wicketkeeper. After which the players appealed for catch. The umpire rejected the appeal after which the Australian players decided to take DRS. After which the third umpire, after seeing the replays, gave the decision in favor of the bowler. But after watching the TV replays, no movement was visible on the sneakometer. Even after this the umpire declared the batsman out. After which Jaiswal got angry and was seen talking to the umpire about this. But the third umpire declared the batsman out, after which Jaiswal returned to the pavilion with a disappointed heart.

But, despite there being no movement in the sneako meter, looking at the replays it seemed that the ball had touched the bat but it was not detected on the sneako meter. Even after this confusion, the umpire declared the batsman out. After which former legend Sunil Gavaskar (Sunil Gavaskar on Yashasvi Jaiswal Wicket controversy) got angry and called this decision wrong.

During the commentary, Gavaskar called this decision of the umpire wrong and said, “This is a completely wrong decision of the umpires. It is clearly not out. Completely wrong decision of the umpires.” Taking his point further, Gavaskar said, “If the proof of technology is not to be taken, then why should it be taken? As far as Indians are concerned, it is certainly a question.”

Even on social media, fans are seen reacting to Jaiswal’s wicket. Many people believe that Jaiswal has been given out wrongly.

On the other hand, Ricky Ponting has justified this decision of the umpire. Ponting said that it was clearly visible that the ball had hit the gloves.
