Nitish Reddy Meet Family Members IND vs AUS: Nitish Kumar Reddy (Nitish Reddy Century vs AUS) stood as a hero for India in a difficult situation by scoring unbeaten 105 runs on the third day of the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. In front of his father Mutyala and other family members, Reddy hit a lofted on-drive off Scott Boland and scored his maiden Test century in 171 balls. With his unbeaten 105, Reddy is the second Indian to score his first Test century at the MCG. Earlier, Vinoo Mankad had done this in 1948. Father Mutyala’s tears after seeing Nitish score his first Test century also prove the sacrifices and efforts made by his son to play international cricket for India.

His unbeaten inning of 105 runs became even more special, especially when the condition of the Indian team worsened after the dismissal of Rishabh Pant. With the scoreboard reading 191 for 6 and a huge deficit of 283 runs to follow-on, Nitish took the lead with the partnership with Washington Sundar. After the end of the day’s play, BCCI shared a heart-touching picture of Nitish meeting his family members in a video on its social media handle.
When they met their son, his parents had tears in their eyes. Nitish was hugged by his mother and then his sister and father Mutyalu Reddy hugged him. An emotional Mutyalu kissed his son’s cheek and said, “Nitish played very well today. We have fought a lot. We are grateful to the Indian team.” Nitish’s sister Tejaswi Reddy said, “It has not been an easy journey for him. We are all very proud of him.”
Thanks to Nitish’s impressive innings, India saved the day’s play at the score of 358 runs for 9 wickets and Nitish made a comeback by scoring 105*, which revived hopes of a result in India’s favor. Nitish had to work hard for his maiden Test century, especially when Washington Sundar edged the ball off Nathan Lyon. After Jasprit Bumrah could not save his wicket, prayers started echoing in the MCG.
Mohammed Siraj had to face a few balls to give Nitish the moment he wanted. The 21-year-old all-rounder completed his century in brilliant style by hitting the ball for a four. India will resume their innings on the fourth day, still trailing by 116 runs, with Nitish and Mohammed Siraj unbeaten at the crease.
