IND vs AUS: “You should not misshit…” Sanjay Manjrekar gave a big statement on the manner of Rishabh Pant’s dismissal

Sanjay Manjrekar Reaction on Rishabh Pant: Wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant has once again faced criticism for the way he was out on the third day of the Boxing Day Test. Former Indian team legend Sunil Gavaskar looked very angry after Rishabh Pant’s dismissal and called it stupidity. When Rishabh Pant was out, Team India was in trouble and everyone expected that Pant would act with patience. But Pant continued to play strange shots and he had to suffer the loss for this. Rishabh Pant scored 28 runs in 37 balls.

Gavaskar angry at Rishabh Pant

On the third day of the Melbourne Test, Rishabh Pant along with Ravindra Jadeja opened the innings ahead of India’s score of 164/5, and both of them had played almost the first hour. Then Pant tried to scoop Scott Boland’s ball from outside down the leg side, but was caught straight at deep third. During this time, Sunil Gavaskar Billuk, who was doing commentary, was also not happy with Rishabh Pant.

During the lunch break, Gavaskar said on Star Sports, “I think earlier when there was no fielder, he tried to play this shot, it is understandable because you are taking a very good chance.” “That (shot) should have gone down the leg side but it went down the off side, it really tells you that maybe there was a bit of bad luck involved, but the selection of this shot at that particular time was very poor, when in the deep. There were two fielders at square-leg and deep point.”

Rishabh Pant had tried to hit a similar shot on Boland’s previous ball in the 56th over, but due to losing balance, the ball hit the inner edge of his body. When Rishabh Pant was out, India’s score was 191 for 5 wickets.

Sanjay Manjrekar told where the mistake happened

While talking to Star Sports, Sanjay Manjrekar said on Rishabh Pant’s dismissal, “In this series, we saw that Rishabh Pant was out many times while defending, and not while playing such shots. The innings we saw today. His defense was excellent, as Deep Dasgupta said, he was playing late and focusing on his defence, then he made a mistake while playing an aggressive shot.

Manjrekar further said, “I always believe that if you are doing something different, you should not mishit. When we saw Pant for the first time in his first few Test matches, he was such a big hit. You used to get out just like that while playing shots, and I remember I said then that if you play such risky shots, play them properly, because if you get out, everyone outside will question whether you What did you do?”

Manjrekar said, “However, the shot was played incorrectly. He first tried a ball which was a little short and it was a full ball on which he hit sixes. We got (Sam) Constas against (Jasprit) Bumrah. Saw him doing this too. However, he (Pant) played a little early and the ball went to third man and there was a fielder there.”

Manjrekar said, “He was a bit unlucky because the catch was taken at third man because the fielder deployed there was for the ramp shot. He was trying to play on the leg side. When he plays such shots, there is a bit of calculation behind it.” He felt there was a gap, the ball was full and he could scoop it.”
