Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar on Sunday, advising Europe to show some sensitivity and mutual interests to develop deep relations with India, said on Sunday that India is looking for partners, not ‘preachers’. Jaishankar said in a interacting session in New Delhi on Sunday that India has always advocated ‘Russian realism’ and is a ‘important harmony’ between India and Russia as a resource provider and consumer and is ‘complementary’ to each other in this matter.
The Foreign Minister also criticized the earlier efforts of the West without finding the resolution of the Russia-Ukraine struggle without including the resolution of Russia and said that it has ‘challenged the basic things of realism’. He said in the ‘Arctic Circle India Forum’, ‘I am a supporter of the realism of America as I am a supporter of Russia’s realism.’ He said, “I think the best way to join today’s US is to find the mutuality of interests, not to put forward ideological differences and let the possibilities of working together to weaken.” The Foreign Minister said these things widely discussing the effects of the recent developments in the Arctic on the world and the effects of the changing global system.
Jaishankar, while answering a question related to India from Europe, said that instead of preaching, he would have to start working on the basis of the structure of mutuality. He said, “When we look at the world, we look for partners, we do not seek the preachers, especially such preachers who do not follow their words in our own country, but preach to other countries.” The Foreign Minister said, ‘I think some part of Europe is still struggling with this problem. Some parts have changed. He said that Europe has ‘realizes reality to some extent’. He said, “Now we have to see whether they can move forward or not.”
Jaishankar said, “But from our point of view (if we talk), if we have to partner, then there should be some understanding, some sensitivity, some mutual interests should be and it should be realized how the world works.” He said, “And I think all these tasks are in progress at different levels in different parts of Europe, so some countries have moved forward, some less.”
Jaishankar said on India-Russia relations that there is ‘important harmony’ between the two countries as a ‘resource provider and resource consumer’ and they are ‘complementary’ to each other in this matter. He said, “As far as Russia is concerned, we have always adopted an approach to advocating Russian realism.” During the Russia-Ukraine conflict, India retained relations with Russia and increased the purchase of Russian crude oil despite the increasing discomfort of western countries.
