Suchir Balaji Death: Whistleblower Indian-American AI researcher Suchir Balaji, who worked for OpenAI and then raised his voice against this company, has died. According to San Francisco Police, Suchir’s body was found in a San Francisco apartment on November 26. Police say that Suchir has committed suicide.
“The preliminary investigation has found no evidence of foul play in Suchir’s death,” San Francisco Police Department spokesman Robert Rueca told Forbes.
According to The Mercury News, Balaji was found dead inside his Buchanan Street apartment on 26 November. According to Suchir’s LinkedIn profile, he worked for OpenAI from November 2020 to August 2024.
Billionaire Elon Musk has a long-standing feud with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. Musk has made the matter doubtful by writing “Hmm” on Suchir’s case on X.

OpenAI was jointly founded by Elon Musk and Sam Altman in 2015. Three years later, Musk left OpenAI and founded another rival start-up, xAI. Last month, Musk alleged that OpenAI runs its own monopoly.
Balaji, who had done excellent work for OpenAI for four years and played a big role in the development of Chat GPT, came into the eyes of the world when he made many allegations against Open AI.
In October, Suchir Balaji alleged that OpenAI was violating copyright law. He said in an interview with The New York Times that technologies like ChatGPT were harming the Internet. In a social media post on X in October, Balaji also wrote about the appropriate use of AI and generative.

Suchir said that copyrighted material of journalists, writers, programmers etc. has been used without permission to create ChatGPT, which will have a direct impact on many businesses and trades. His knowledge and testimony could have a big impact in the ongoing legal cases against OpenAI.
