In 2024, pre-oven luxury cars surpassed new luxury cars in terms of sales amidst increasing desire of premium cars in Indians. Industry estimates that around 80,000 pre-and-and luxury cars were sold across the country last year, while 50,000 new luxury cars were sold during this period. Interestingly, 50,000 luxury cars were not sold in the country any year earlier.

The vehicle market in India is becoming premium and the growing sale of utility vehicles is proof of this. The share of utility vehicles in total passenger vehicles reached 65 per cent in 2024-25, which was only 60 per cent a year before that. The share of sports utility vehicle (SUV) has increased to 50 per cent. Vikram Pava, president and CEO of BMW Group in India, says that young and successful people are showing great interest in used luxury cars. He says, ‘The average age of buyers has come down to 35-40 years. Their lifestyle and personality is also liked to keep the car of the same mood.

Pawa says that his business of pre-and premium car in India in the name of BMW premium selection increased by 47 percent in 2024 in 2024. He says that after Kovid-19, the customer attitude towards luxury pre-and-and-and-and-and-and-and-oven has changed and BMW premium selection sales have increased by 146 per cent as compared to 2019.

Dealers of used cars say that in 2024 new luxury cars set a record by touching a sales figure of 50,000, while the used luxury cars also reached 80,000. Himanshu Arya, the founder and CEO of Luxury Cart, who traded the pre-oven luxury car at Delhi-NCR, said, “80,000 pre-and-and-and luxury cars were sold in 2024, which is a record so far. Currently, the ratio of sales of new and old luxury cars is 1: 1.6 but it is very less than many western markets. The ratio in the West is 1: 3 i.e. 3 pre-and-and-on cars are also sold when every 1 new car is sold.

According to Arya, about 5 lakh luxury cars are running on the streets of India. Demand is also increasing due to growing middle class and its rising income and desire. People are changing the car rapidly and the number of vehicles is increasing in the pre-oven car market. Pawa said, “Some time 5-6 years old pre-and-oven was selling a lot, but now the new generation is liking pre-and-and-and-and-on car made 2-3 years ago.” He told that BMW’s 3-Series, 5-Series, 6-Series, 7-Series and X1 are very much liked by such customers.

Arya says that it becomes very easy to sell BMW X1 to a person who already has an SUV of Rs 25-30 lakh. Last year, the average price of pre-and luxury car was around Rs 41-42 lakh, while on an average, an average of Rs 81 lakh was to be spent for the new luxury car. BMW rival Mercedes Benz India and Audi India’s pre-and-and-and-and-Ande Car have also been sold in 2024. Santosh Iyer, Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes Benz India, told that his company has very few pre-members available, so his demand is very high in the market. That is why the certified car business increased by 25 per cent in 2024.

The sale of Volvo Car India, which started its pre-and luxury car business in 2023, was also very good. Jyoti Malhotra, managing director of Volvo Car India, said that sales were much higher than estimated.

Audi India chief Balbir Singh Dhillon also admitted that the pre-and-oven cars are making a good growth in their business. He said, ‘Our Audi Approvated in the first quarter of 2025: Plus business rose 23 per cent. In 2024, it increased a total of 32 percent. He also believes that in metros like Delhi-NCR, Mumbai and Bangalore, people desire to own a luxury car, due to which business is growing. But Audi is getting good business from medium and small cities as well. BMW says that the metros and medium cities have a half-stake in the sales of its pre-and-and-and-and-six cities. Pawa said, “In cities like Jaipur, Kochi, Chandigarh, Lucknow, many more people are getting ready to buy pre-and-oven.”

For the first time, the number of luxury cars buying is also increasing. Iyer feels a good tendency to take a pre-and-and-and-and-and car for the first time in the emerging markets. But according to them the major metropolis still hold more share in sales. Two pre-and-oven car dealers in Mumbai said that many dealers are offering maintenance packages for 3 years or 45,000 kilometers for a distance of Rs 1 lakh. They say that when people feel the cost of maintenance as the common car, then their hesitation of buying a luxury car goes away.
