The matter of giving permission for marriage in the ancient Gopal temple of Indore, the cleanest city of the country, is becoming heated. Now the administration is in action. A notice has been issued to those giving permission and their reply has been sought. The management of Gopal Temple is done by the Dharmastha Department under the Divisional Commissioner’s Office.

Naiduniya, Indore. Giving permission to organize a marriage in the ancient Gopal temple proved costly for the forgiveness officer and the manager of the temple. After the completion of the event, Divisional Commissioner Deepak Singh showed strictness and removed the apology officer Vinod Rathore and the services of temple manager KL Kaushal were terminated.
Here, on Monday, the second day of the event, the temple was cleaned by the Municipal Corporation. In this, three trolley garbage was taken out from the premises. The cleaning work continued from morning till afternoon. There was chaos in the entire complex and due to this even the drains of the temple got clogged.
The entire temple was converted into a marriage garden.
- Gopal Temple is one of the oldest temples in Indore, which is managed by the Dharmastha Department under the Divisional Commissioner’s Office. The pardon officer had given permission to organize a marriage in the temple on January 12 without checking the rules.
- The organizers also deposited Rs 25,551 on July 29. Preparations for the wedding program continued for two days, but they were not stopped. The organizers turned the entire temple into a marriage garden.
- The lavish arrangements for cooking, decorating the temple with flowers and serving food continued, but no one stopped it. After the event, there was dirt all over the premises, which was cleaned and removed by the Municipal Corporation on Monday.
- The morning aarti in the temple had to be performed in filth. The temple priest says that Aarti was performed in the morning by sweeping in front of the sanctum sanctorum. Collector Ashish Singh says that instructions have been given to prepare detailed guidelines regarding the temple.
Negligence of officers revealed in investigation
Additional Collector Gaurav Bainal started investigation and took statements of the priest, manager and organizer of the temple. A report was taken from Amnesty Officer Vinod Rathore. On the basis of this, a report was prepared and submitted to the Divisional Commissioner through the Collector.
The investigation found negligence and indifference towards the work of the administrative officials. Generally, receipts of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 are issued for marriages and other events in the temple and general processions were organised.
A hundred times more amount of Rs 1 lakh 551 was deposited for this marriage ceremony. In such a situation, the administrative officials knew in advance that a grand event was going to be held. Preparations for cleaning, decorating the temple and cooking food had started in the temple from January 10, but it was not stopped.
The amount received was also not deposited in the bank. During investigation, an amount of Rs 75 thousand has also been confirmed to have been deposited after the matter came to light.

Rathore was also removed from Rau SDM
Taking action, Collector Ashish Singh also removed Vinod Rathore from the post of Rau SDM. Rathore has been posted in the district office with immediate effect. The charge of Rau has been handed over to Khudel SDM Gopal Verma. The Divisional Commissioner has removed pardon officer Vinod Rathore and handed over the charge to SDM Kalyani Pandey. The services of temple manager KL Kaushal were terminated and the charge of temple manager has been handed over to Vitthal temple manager SP Pandey.
