1. Total number of players will participate

This time more than a thousand players had registered for the auction, but after the retrenchment by BCCI, now a total of 577 players will go through the process in the two-day auction. Of these, 367 are Indians and 210 are foreign players. Out of these, 3 players are from Associate countries. 318 Indian uncapped and 14 foreign uncapped players will participate in the auction.

2. This much space will be filled

While a total of 574 players will go through the auction process, a total of 204 spots will be filled across all ten teams. Out of these, 70 places are for foreign players. The highest base price for players is Rs 2 crore and 81 players are included in this bracket. At the same time, for the last several years, the base price of the lower order has been increased from Rs 20 to Rs 30 lakh. Among the marquee players, except David Milner, all others have kept their base price at Rs 2 crore. The South African lefty batsman has fixed his base price at Rs 1.50 crore.

3. This is the overall timing as per Indian time

The mega auction will be conducted in two phases on both days, which also includes a break of 45 minutes. The first session will run from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm. After this there will be lunch break from 5:00 to 5:45. Whereas, the second session will run from 5:45 pm to 10:30 pm.

5. Know about accelerated auction

Although more than 500 players will go through the overall auction process, they will go through the process in a piecemeal manner. BCCI has already informed all the franchises about the accelerated auction process. This phase will start from player number 117 and continue till the last number (577). The franchise will have to nominate the names of specific players from this group by 10 pm on the first day of the two-day process.

Once these players are auctioned, franchise teams will be asked to provide names of unsold or unauctioned players for the next round of the “Accelerated Process”.

6. The order of the auction will be like this

The auction will begin on Sunday with bidding for both sets of marquee players. After this, bidding will be held for the first set of capped players. This bracket includes batsmen, fast bowlers, wicketkeepers, spinners and all-rounders.

In the next round, uncapped players in these different categories will go through the process, then bidding will be held again on capped players. After these three rounds are over, “Accelerated Auction” will start.

7. Names of these players were included at the last moment

BCCI had earlier finalized the names of 554 players, but recently the names of England pacer Joffra Archer and America’s Indian-origin Saurabh Netrawalkar were included in the list. Whereas, the third name is of Mumbai wicketkeeper Hardik Tamore. Overall, the total number of players has now reached 577 including 367 Indians and 210 foreigners.
