The mega auction for the IPL 2025 season has been completed and every franchise has prepared their squads. Rishabh Pant was the limelight of the auction, who was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 27 crore. This is the highest amount received by any player so far. Whereas, 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi has become the youngest player in the history of the tournament. He was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 1.10 crore. Ahead of IPL 2025, 10 teams spent Rs 639.15 crore to sign 182 players, including 62 foreigners, in the auction.
Apart from Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer were bought by Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders for a huge price of Rs 26.75 crore and Rs 23.75 crore respectively. Among other players, Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal were bought by Punjab Kings for the same price of Rs 18 crore each while Jos Buttler was bought by Gujarat Titans for Rs 15.75 crore.
After the auction, all 10 teams look very strong. It is very difficult to say who will be weak and who will be strong. All the team leaders sitting at the auction table had done a lot of homework, which was visible during the auction. Especially the franchises of Lucknow, Delhi and Rajasthan showed great care in the selection of players.
All teams have to play home and away matches. In such a situation, some teams will be strong at home, while some can create havoc by going to other’s homes, but one thing is certain that some teams with new captain, coach and players are going to make a strong comeback this time. Whereas the old champion teams would also like to maintain their dominance. At the same time, in the auction that lasted for two days, there was one name on which very few people kept an eye and that is Jaydev Unadkat, who created history in this auction.
Actually, Jaydev Unadkat has been sold for the 13th time in the IPL auction. Apart from him, no other player has been sold in the auction so many times. While Jaydev Unadkat has been sold for the 13th time, no other player has been bid more than seven times in the auction.
Bidding worth crores has been going on
Jaydev Unadkat made his IPL debut in the year 2010. There is different information available regarding the amount of money he received that year. According to the report of ESPNcricinfo, Kolkata Knight Riders had given Rs 8 lakh to this bowler for the year 2010. But the very next year, this player’s luck shone and he was bought in the auction for Rs 1.4 crore. Stayed with Kolkata in 2012 also.
Bangalore had bought him for 2013. Whereas in 2014 he went to Delhi and stayed with Delhi again in 2015. Whereas in 2016, he was bought by Kolkata for Rs 1.6 crore. This season was not special for him, after which he was bought for just Rs 30 lakh in the next season. But this season he made a comeback and took 24 wickets in 12 matches, after which he was bought by Rajasthan Royals for 11.50 crores for the 2018 season. He was the most expensive player that season.
