Michael Clarke Supports Bcci’s Stance on Harry Brook: BCCI has banned the English cricketer Harry Brook, who withdrew his name from the league just before the start of IPL 2025 (IPL 2025). The BCCI has banned the brook under the new IPL rules. Harry Brook was purchased by Delhi Capitals for 6.25 crores in the IPL auction. Brooke has said the reason for the removal of the IPL to take time from time and cricket to prepare for his national commitments. At the same time, former Australian cricketer Michael Clarke has supported this decision of BCCI.
After Moin Ali and Adil Rashid, now former Australian captain Michael Clarke has supported BCCI’s decision to ban Brooke from the tournament for the next few years. Talking on Beyond 23 Cricket Podcast, Clarke said, “It seems that Harry Brook is the first player to do so but I think why the IPL will do this. Every player will want more money, but once when you go to the auction and you are bought, you have to respect it and understand that you can not get out only because you don’t want to be paid as much as you want.”
Clarke said, “He is a wonderful player and I have no doubt that he will be a part of the IPL if he wants. But maybe he will have his reasons. Every person will have to choose this option – go to IPL or domestic competition.”
Michael Clarke further said, “I don’t remember whether it was the first year or second, but I withdrew my name because someone in my family had passed away. I come home for family, funeral and other things. So if there is any personal reason, I think the IPL will understand it and respect it, but if you do not get the money that you do not want, they will have to act and honor you.”
Prior to Michael Clarke, former England all -rounder Moin Ali believes that the BCCI’s two -year ban on Harry Brook, who withdrew the name from the IPL, is not strict. Brook has withdrawn the name from the IPL for the second consecutive time. Moin said in the ‘Beer Bifour Cricket’ Podcast, “It is not strict. I agree. Many people take back the names and then come back and take better financial packages. It makes a lot of mess. A lot of changes have to be made.” Brook retreated from the contract with Delhi Capitals before this session of IPL starting on 22 March.
Moin, who is going to play for Kolkata Knight Riders, said, “Forget him, if you withdraw the name, the rule is that you will be banned, provided there is no family reasons or injury. I agree with this rule.”
