Iran’s underground missile base found in Syria
Tel Aviv: The Israeli army conducted a major undercover operation in Syria after the ouster of President Bashar al-Assad from power. During this time, he found a huge missile plant in Syria, from where hundreds of missiles were being manufactured. The Israeli army launched a fierce attack and destroyed it in just 3 hours. 120 specialized commandos of the Israeli Army were involved in this operation. According to the IDF, this missile center had the capacity to manufacture 100 to 300 missiles. It was built completely underground. It was a secret base of missile supplies for Hamas, Hezbollah and Syria.
Israel had codenamed this very secret mission “Operation Many Ways”, which was started secretly on 8 September 2024. It was an underground missile manufacturing plant funded by Iran, which was completely demolished by Israeli forces after a raid. Iran had installed this missile plant in the Masyaf area of ​​western Syria. This place is also a stronghold of the Syrian Air Force. This secret facility is known as the “Deep Layer”. Israeli officials claimed that the site, a key project of Iran’s missile production program, was intended to supply precision missiles to Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Assad regime in Syria. Officials claim that the operation was carried out without any injuries to Israeli forces.
Iran was manufacturing missiles underground
According to the IAF, construction of Iran’s deep layer facility began in late 2017 after Israel launched an airstrike on the Center for Scientific Studies and Research (CERS), an above-ground rocket engine manufacturing site in Jamraya, southern Syria. The attack caused Iran to move its missile operations underground in order to protect its missile production capabilities from future air attacks. By 2021, the underground facility, buried 70 to 130 meters deep in the mountains, was operational, with full-scale missile production capabilities.

The shape of this secret missile construction found in Syria is like a horseshoe. It has three primary entrances. The first gate is for raw materials, the second for completed missiles and the third for logistics and access to the office. Its facility consists of sixteen production rooms, including mixers for rocket fuel, missile body manufacturing areas, and paint rooms. The IDF estimated the facility’s annual production to be between 100 and 300 missiles, capable of reaching targets up to 300 kilometers away. Strategically located just 200 km north of the Israeli border and 45 km off Syria’s west coast, the Deep Layer facility provided Iran with a means to deter Israeli attacks on ground weapons convoys for Hezbollah. The underground site would enable Hezbollah to acquire missiles directly from the Syrian border.
IDF discovered the location after years of surveillance
