‘If there is no identification then fraud will definitely happen’

What did BJP write in the letter?

In a letter written to the Election Commission, BJP has written that in the last elections it had come to light that veiled women were seen trying to vote again and again due to not being identified. Not only women, some men also try to do fake voting by wearing burqa. Many times such voters are stopped by polling personnel. If women wearing burqa are allowed to vote without identification then there will be fake voting. Therefore, to ensure fair voting, women wearing burqa and all other voters should be allowed to vote only after ensuring their identity, so that the elections can be fair.

The issue of fake voting was also raised in the Lok Sabha elections.

Even during the Lok Sabha elections, allegations of fake voting were made under the cover of burqa. Political parties had complained to the Election Commission about fake voting under the cover of curtains at many places including Mainpuri, Sambhal and Firozabad. After the complaints received in the third phase, the Election Commission had issued a helpline number. Now a similar case is coming up again.
