Israel allows Palestinians to return to the northern area of the Gaza Strip
Deir al-Balah: Israel has allowed Palestinians to return to the northern Gaza Strip for the first time since a ceasefire took effect after a 15-month war with Hamas. Due to this war, the northern area of Gaza Strip has been badly devastated. Thousands of Palestinians, who had been waiting for days to return to their areas after getting permission, headed north on Monday. A large number of returnees were seen here.
Delay in return of people
Associated Press correspondents saw people crossing the Netzarim corridor just after 7 a.m., when the gate opens. The return of people to the northern region was delayed due to the dispute between Hamas and Israel. Israel alleged that the terrorist group had changed the order of the hostages to be released in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners. However, negotiators resolved the dispute late in the night.
The aim is to end the war
The ceasefire aims to end the deadliest and most destructive war between Israel and Hamas to date. Not only this, the purpose of the ceasefire is also to ensure the release of many hostages captured in the attack by terrorists targeting Israel on October 7, 2023. After this attack, Israel started war against Hamas.
Israel had ordered to evacuate the area
In the early days of the war Israel ordered the complete evacuation of the northern area and sealed it off shortly after ground troops arrived. Nearly one million people fled to the south in October 2023 and were not allowed to return. Millions of people remained in the northern region, where some of the fiercest fighting and most terrible destruction occurred during the war.

Hamas accused of violating the agreement
Israel had said it would not allow Palestinians to move north until female civilian hostage Arbel Yehud was released. Israel also alleged that Hamas did not provide any information on whether the remaining hostages to be released were alive or dead. In return, Hamas accused Israel of violating the agreement by not opening the crossing.
Hostages will be released soon
Gulf country Qatar, the main negotiator and mediator with Hamas, announced on Monday that an agreement had been reached to release Yehud and two other hostages before Friday. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement that the hostages would be released on Thursday. Female soldier Agam Berger is also among the hostages. The release will be in addition to the release already scheduled for next Saturday, when three hostages are to be freed.
