JPSC-JSSC Exam: When a student starts preparing for competitive exams, he has dreams of the future in his eyes. Some people want to crack IAS-PCS exam and some want to crack SSC and other recruitment exams, but when the same students have to face the rigging happening in these exams, their morale gets broken. Something similar is happening with the students of Jharkhand “Jharkhand – Confluence of possibilities and struggles. A state which has made the strictest laws in the country to prevent copying. But are these laws capable of stopping the serious menace of education mafias and paper leaks?” The central government has introduced a stringent bill to prevent copying in 2024. In this, if found guilty of copying, 10 years of jail and a fine of up to Rs 1 crore can be imposed. But Jharkhand had already implemented the Anti-Counterfeiting Act in 2023, which is more strict than the Centre. Under the law of Jharkhand, life imprisonment and a fine of up to Rs 10 crore has been fixed. If caught copying for the first time, the punishment is 1 year in jail and a fine of Rs 5 lakh, while if caught for the second time, the punishment is 3 years in prison and a fine of up to Rs 10 lakh. These provisions apply to State Public Service Commission, Staff Selection Commission and other recruitment examinations. But despite these laws, Jharkhand’s examination system has not been free from controversies. Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) examinations have become synonymous with controversies and scams. This trend had started from the first and second civil services examinations in 2001 itself. There were allegations of large-scale rigging in these examinations. CBI investigation found that many candidates were selected without writing answer sheets. Allegations of irregularities against the then president and many officials were proved. In the investigation that lasted for 12 years, chargesheet was filed against 70 people. Almost every examination conducted by JPSC is embroiled in some controversy or the other. Only 13 examinations could be conducted in 21 years, whereas examinations should have been conducted every year. Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) is also not untouched by controversies. The paper of the recently held Graduate Level Examination (CGL) was leaked. This incident came to light during the third shift examination on January 28, 2024. In this case, the examination was canceled and SIT investigation was ordered. JSSC lodged an FIR at Namkum police station, but the students remained adamant on their demand for a CBI investigation. This is not the first time. Even in 2022, the polytechnic exam paper was leaked, due to which the exam had to be conducted again.
