On December 13, Karnataka High Court has granted bail to famous Kannada actors Darshan and Pavithra Gowda of Kannada film industry in the ‘Renuka Swamy Murder Case’. This case has been in the news for the last six months and now that the bail has been granted, it has again come into the limelight. Apart from actor Darshan and his girlfriend Pavitra, there were a total of 12 accused in this murder case, many of whom have been arrested so far.
Complete murder case and accused
Darshan and his associates are accused of brutally murdering 33-year-old auto driver Renuka Swamy. On 11 June 2024, Bengaluru Police arrested Darshan for the murder of Renuka Swamy. The incident took place near a flyover in Bengaluru, where Renuka’s body was found. This murder did not happen suddenly, but behind it was the story of a woman and a love triangle.
Renuka Swamy had sent obscene messages to Pavitra Gowda on June 8, 2024, which deeply hurt Darshan. After this, Darshan, in anger, told Pavitra about Renuka’s actions and planned to take revenge on her. Darshan gave an amount of Rs 30 lakh to his associates to eliminate Renuka Swamy.

On the night of 8th June, Darshan along with his associates kidnapped Renuka Swamy in Kamakshipalya area of Bengaluru. Later he was brutally beaten to death and the body was thrown into a drain. In the initial investigation by the police, this matter appeared to be related to money transactions, but when the matter was investigated in depth, shocking things came to light.

While giving its verdict on this, the court said that there is lack of evidence against the accused, due to which they can get bail. However, the court also said that further hearing of this case will continue and the accused will be kept under strict vigil.
