Kerala Police suspects IRS officer and his mother and sister committing suicide


Kochi/Ranchi:

The Kerala police said on Saturday that according to preliminary investigation, the mysterious death of the IRS officer and his family members seems to be a case of suicide. A post -mortem of the three bodies was done at the Government Medical College Hospital in Kochi. A few days ago, the bodies of the customs officer and his sister were found hanging from the noose inside his residence, while his mother’s body was also found there. One of those who died was Shalini Vijay, an officer of the Government of Jharkhand, who was summoned by a court in a case. The CBI was investigating this case.

An official of the Personnel Department in Ranchi said that there was no information about him since he went to Kerala on holiday in 2020. The deceased have been identified as the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer and Additional Commissioner Manish Vijay (43) in the Central Excise and Customs Department in Kochi, his sister Shalini Vijay and his mother Shakuntala Aggarwal.

Had to appear in the court of Jharkhand

Police sources said that Manish’s sister Shalini had recently received a summons from the court, in which she was directed to appear in a court in Jharkhand on 15 February in connection with a case investigated by the CBI. Sources said that she was accused in the matter related to irregularities in her appointment in the service of the Government of Jharkhand.

In Ranchi, the official said that she was the first batch topper of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and her final posting was as District Social Welfare Officer in Garhwa. The bodies of Manish and Shalini were found hanging from the noose, while Shakuntala was found dead on his bed. Shakuntala’s body was wrapped in a white cloth and flowers were put on it. An official said that according to preliminary investigation, Shakuntala committed suicide first and siblings performed some rituals and later committed suicide.

Raise open when smells

Police have come to know that Manish bought flowers on 14 February. The officer said that the police also got an entry of February 15 in Manish’s diary, in which it was instructed that some documents should be handed over to his younger sister, who are currently in Dubai. Police said that her younger sister reached Kochi on Saturday, after which the post -mortem was done. Police said that detailed investigation is going on. Manish Vijay lived here in the Central Excise Staff Quarter in Kakkanadu. The officers were on leave for a few days, but when he did not return to work, his colleagues reached his house on Thursday night.

When he smelled, he (his colleagues) looked through the open window and a dead body was seen hanging. The police was immediately informed and after entering the house, he found another body hanging in another room. Police said that in the search conducted later, another body was found lying on the bed in the second room. Police said that the family had been living in this quarter for the last year and a half, but he was allegedly isolated and had limited contact with neighbors. In Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, the president of the Vijayvargiya Vasia Sabha and his distant relative Sanjeev Vijayvargiya said that the ancestral house of Manish and Shalini’s family is at Tulsi Chowk in Doranda in the city.

Everyone in the family is educated

This family has been a part of Vijayvargiya society, but after going to Kerala, there was no contact between them. Former Ranchi Deputy Mayor Vijayvargiya said, ‘Shalini’s grandfather Nemi Chand was posted in BPSC, Patna. His father Uttam Chand used to work in Bokaro Steel, but he died at an early age … Shalini also had a flat in Ranchi’s Radium Road. He told that Shalini’s mother Shakuntala Devi was a professor in a college in Bokaro. Shalini’s uncle Prem Chand told reporters that he was informed of the death of his relative late on Thursday night. He also expressed surprise at the incident.
