Kho-Kho World Cup Opening Ceremony: The first World Cup of Kho-Kho game is being organized on Indian soil. This will open new opportunities for Indian players in this game and they will get more opportunities. Now the colorful opening ceremony of Kho-Kho World Cup 2025 took place at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, in which cultural programs were presented. A parade of all the men’s and women’s teams was also taken out and at the end the Vice President lit the torch. During the opening ceremony, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Jammu and Kashmir Governor Manoj Sinha, India TV Chairman and Editor in Chief Rajat Sharma, IOA President PT Usha, BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla and BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi were present.
Kho-Kho part of our lifestyle: Mansukh Mandaviya
Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that today I am happy that Kho-Kho World Cup has been organized in the country. Sudhanshu Mittal ji rightly said that this is our game and our traditional game. It is a part of our lifestyle, those who play flourish. Lokmanya Tilak had made the rules of Kho-Kho and also told how Kho-Kho would be played. This game, which originated from our land, is being played in 50 countries of the world.
He said that Kho-Kho should also be included in the Asian Games in the coming days. For that I have written a letter to the Asia Olympic Association. So that our game also goes to the Asian Games. We are trying that the 1936 Olympics should be held in India and at that time our game should also be included in the Olympics. We all will have to work in this direction. My heartiest congratulations to all the players. Hearty congratulations to Sudhanshu Mittal and his team for organizing such a big event.
The trophy was unveiled on January 3
The trophy and mascot for the Kho-Kho World Cup were unveiled at an event held in Delhi on 3 January. A blue trophy was unveiled for the men’s championship. The pair ‘Tejas’ and ‘Tara’, which serve as official mascots, were also introduced.
Indian men’s team’s first match will be against Nepal
This World Cup of Kho-Kho will run from 13 to 19 January. In which 20 men’s teams and 19 women’s teams are participating. All 20 men’s teams have been divided into four groups of five each, in which India has got a place in Group A. Apart from India, this group includes Nepal, Peru, Brazil and Bhutan. The Indian men’s team will play its first match against Nepal on January 13. The top-2 teams in each group will make their place for the quarter-finals.
Indian women’s team will play its first match on 14 January
The Indian women’s Kho-Kho team will play its first match in the World Cup on January 14 against the South Korean team. Indian women’s team has got a place in Group-A for Kho-Kho World Cup. Apart from India, this group includes Iran, Malaysia, Republic of Korea.

- Group A: India, Nepal, Peru, Brazil, Bhutan
- Group B: South Africa, Ghana, Argentina, Netherlands, Iran
- Group C: Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Republic of Korea, USA, Poland

Women’s team groups for Kho-Kho World Cup:
- Group A: India, Iran, Malaysia, Korea Republic
- Group B: England, Australia, Kenya, Uganda, Netherlands
- Group C: Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Germany, Bangladesh
