The rhetoric about the Delhi assembly elections is intensified. The leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are accusing each other. Meanwhile, the Election Commission told how much bank balance the BJP and Congress have? According to the Election Commission, till 31 March 2024 BJP has cash and bank balance of Rs 7,113.80 crore, while Congress has Rs 857.15 crore.
Congress spent 619.67 crores during 2023-24
The BJP spent Rs 1,754.06 crore during 2023-24. When the Lok Sabha elections were announced, which is 60 percent more than Rs 1,092 crore spent in 2022-23. On the other hand, the Congress spent Rs 619.67 crore during 2023-24, while Rs 192.56 crore was spent in 2022-23.
BJP gets 1,685.69 crore donations from election bonds
The Lok Sabha elections were announced on 16 March 2024. In the annual audit report submitted to the Election Commission, the BJP said that during 2023-24, it has now received a voluntary contribution of Rs 1,685.69 crore through the banned election bonds, compared to Rs 1294.15 crore last year.
Congress gets donations of 1,225.11 crore
The ruling party also received another contribution of Rs 2,042.75 crore during the year, compared to Rs 648.42 crore in 2022-23 last year. In its audit report submitted to the Election Commission, the Congress said that it received a total contribution of Rs 1,225.11 crore during 2023-24, including Rs 1129.67 crore through grants, donations and contribution. It also includes Rs 828.36 crore received through election bonds during the year ended 31 March 2024, which has now been banned by the Supreme Court.
Know how much BJP spent on advertisements?
BJP has spent Rs 591 crore on advertisements, Rs 434.84 crore on electronic media. During the year, BJP spent Rs 591 crore on advertisements, including 434.84 crore on electronic media and 115.62 crore on printed materials. The ruling party spent Rs 174 crore on aircraft/helicopter during 2023-24, while in 2022-23 it was Rs 78.23 crore and gave financial assistance of Rs 191.06 crore to its candidates this year as against Rs 75.05 crore last year. The BJP spent 84.32 crore at meeting expenses during 2024 and 75.14 crores on fronts, rallies, agitation and call centers during 2023-24.
Congress spends Rs 207.94 crore on electronic media
On the other hand, Election Commission data has shown that the Congress spent Rs 207.94 crore on electronic media during 2023-24 and Rs 43.73 crore on printed material. The opposition party spent Rs 62.65 crore on aircraft/helicopter during 2023-24 and gave financial assistance of Rs 238.55 crore to its candidates. It spent Rs 28.03 crore on public expenditure during the year ended 31 March 2024 and Rs 79.78 crore on social media expenses.
49.63 crores spent on Congress’s India Address Yatra-2
The party in its audit report also said that it spent Rs 49.63 crore on Bharat Joar Yatra-2 under the leadership of former party chief Rahul Gandhi during 2023-24, while during 2022-23 he was made from Kanyakumari to Kashmir during 2022-23. 71.84 crore rupees were spent on India Yato Yatra.
