Lata Mangeshkar was born on 28 September 1929 in Indore. His father, Dinanath Mangeshkar, was a famous musician, and Lata took his first education of music. At the age of just 5, Lata started singing and also worked as an actress in her father’s plays. Lata Mangeshkar had five siblings, and she was the eldest. His sisters were named Asha, Meena, and Usha, while her brother’s name was Hridaynath Mangeshkar. Everyone made music their profession. Lata Mangeshkar’s father died in 1942, when she was only 13 years old, and after that all the responsibility of the family came on her shoulders.

Doctoral degrees received from these universities

Lata Mangeshkar has six honorary doctoral degrees from many prestigious universities around the world, including Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Shivaji University, Pune University, Khairagarh Music University, Hyderabad University and York University of Toronto. Honorary doctoral degree is considered the highest academic honor given by the university.

These awards have been honored

Lata Mangeshkar has been awarded several major awards for her unique contribution and excellence in Indian music. He has received the Padma Bhushan in 1969, Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1989 and Padma Vibhushan, Bharat Ratna in 2001, and the Lifetime Achievement Award on the 60th anniversary of Independence Day in 2008. Apart from this, in 2007, the French government also honored him with the “Officer of the Lion of Honor” Award.
