Makar Sankranti 2025: Mahakal will take bath with sesame seeds in Bhasma Aarti on Makar Sankranti.

Naiduniya Representative, Ujjain (Makar Sankranti 2025). On Makar Sankranti, on January 14, there will be joy of Uttarayan of Sun God from the courtyard of Mahakal to Shipra coast. In the Bhasma Aarti at the Jyotirlinga Mahakal temple at 4 am, the priest will apply sesame paste to Lord Mahakal and bathe him with lukewarm water.

After sunrise, there will be a festival bath in Shipra. Devotees will do charity after bathing. Pandit Mahesh Pujari said that on Makar Sankranti, there is a tradition of bathing Lord Mahakal with sesame seeds.

After this, one will be adorned in divine form by wearing new clothes and gold and silver jewellery. After this, Aarti will be performed by offering Mahabhog of sesame dishes. The temple will be attractively decorated with kites.

Arghya to Sun in Sandipani Ashram, flag of peak will change

The festival will be celebrated with traditional enthusiasm at Sandipani Ashram, the place of education of Lord Krishna. Priest Pandit Rupam Vyas told that in the morning Lord Krishna will be bathed with lukewarm water mixed with sesame seeds.

After this, Aarti will be performed by worshiping Panchopachar and offering five types of dishes made from spleen. After offering Arghya to Lord Sun, a new flag will be hoisted on the peak of the temple. The temple will be decorated with colorful kites.

Festival bath will be held at Ramghat

On Makar Sankranti, the Sun will enter Capricorn at eight in the morning. With this, Suryadev will travel towards Uttarayan. Malmas will also end as soon as the Sun enters Capricorn. Devotees will take bath in Shipra as soon as the sun rises in Capricorn.

After this, gifts to Brahmins and donations of jaggery, sesame and khichdi will be made in temples. On this day, providing fodder to cows and food to beggars also has special significance. The ride of Sun God will come out from the ancient Shri Navgraha Shani Temple located at Triveni Sangam.

At 11 am in the morning, in the palanquin procession under the guidance of spiritual saint Krishna Guruji Mishra, Suryadev will tour the temple area with Panchvadya Naad. The yatra will reach Triveni Sangam of Shipra. Here the Pandit will worship the Sun God. After the puja, the ride will reach the temple again. Vedpathi Batuk will recite Aditya Hridaya Stotra.

Lord Omkareshwar will be adorned, sesame laddus will be offered

On the festival, sesame laddus will be offered to Lord Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga. Due to the importance of bathing in holy rivers on this day, a large number of devotees will reach Narmada for bathing.

In view of the possibility of more than 50 thousand devotees coming here on Sankranti, necessary arrangements are being made by the administration and police. Vehicles will be stopped and parked at the new bus stand. Pandit Ashish Dixit of the temple trust said that sesame laddus and khichdi prasad will be distributed.
