To make Chyawanprash at home you will need

1.5 cups amla
1 cup jaggery
1 cup honey
5 – 6 tbsp ghee
6 green cardamoms
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 inch cinnamon
1 tbsp cumin
2 tbsp fennel
a pinch of saffron

Prepare homemade Chyawanprash like this

  • step 1: Clean the gooseberries, add water to the pressure cooker and cook till 1 whistle.
  • Step 2: Grind all the required ingredients for spices and make powder.
  • Step 3: Once the gooseberries are cooked, let them cool completely and remove the seeds. Crush the Indian gooseberry after removing the seeds.
  • Step 4: Heat ghee in a non-stick pan, now add the mashed amla into it and mix until ghee starts flowing from the sides of the pan.
  • Step 5: Now add jaggery and honey in the pan and let it cook for about 4 to 5 minutes.
  • Step 6: Then add the ground dry spice mixture and let it cook until the ingredients become slightly sticky and start leaving the sides of the pan.
  • Step 7: Cool and store it in an air tight jar.

Note: Homemade Chyawanprash can be stored in a dry and cool place for 4 to 6 months. But we would suggest that you make only so much Chyawanprash, which will be finished in 2 months. It is very easy to make, so when it is finished, make it again.
