The government of Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh presented the budget in the assembly on Thursday (20 February 2025). The Government of Uttar Pradesh has focused on infrastructure, social pension, poor, youth, farmers, religious tourism and upliftment of women in the budget of Rs 8 lakh 8,736 crore. This budget is the largest budget of the Uttar Pradesh government so far, which is 9.8 percent more than last year.
The Uttar Pradesh government has made a provision of Rs 300 crore for setting up a textile park in the state in its budget of 2025-26. The state government has ‘zero powerful campaign’ (Poverty eradication Campaign) is introduced. Its purpose will be to mark their income at least Rs 1,25,000 annually by marking the poor families from each village.
Emphasis on infrastructure
In the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Finance Suresh Khanna has approved four new expressway project in the budget. In these projects, a new expressway will be built at a cost of Rs 900 crore to connect the Ganga Expressway to the Agra-Lucknow Expressway. The Ganga Expressway will be connected to Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Sonbhadra. 50 crore rupees have been given for this Vindhya Expressway.
At the same time, an extended expressway of Ganga Expressway will be built to connect Meerut to Haridwar. 50 crore rupees have also been given for this. Apart from this, Rs 50 crore has also been fixed in the budget for the construction of Bundelkhand-Rewa Expressway. Along with this, the state government has announced to make 58 municipalities a smart city. Provisions have been made in the budget for this.
Special provisions for students and youth
In the fourth budget of the second term of the Yogi government, it has been announced for the first time to give scooty to talented girl students for free. The scheme with smartphones and tablets being given to the youth will continue. At the same time, coaching centers will be opened in every district under ‘Mukhyamantri Abhiudaya Yojana’ for students preparing for competitive examinations. At the same time, the youth will be given an interest -free loan.
In the budget, ‘Ek District Ek Sports’ scheme has been launched. For this, the state government will set up ‘Khelo India’ center in all 72 districts. In addition, it has been announced to build a cricket stadium in Varanasi. The Sigra Stadium of Varanasi is also being developed. At the state level, a sports university is being constructed in Meerut.
An arrangement of Rs 223 crore has been made for this sports university. Smart classes and fully digital library were established in state polytechnics of the state. Along with this, a target has been set to establish 1 lakh new micro enterprises every year in the budget. In Lucknow artifical Intelligence (AI) It has also been announced to create a city.
Religious tourism was also taken care of
To expand the tourism sector of the state Mathura-Vrindavan Corridor A provision of Rs 150 crore has also been made for. Maa Vindhyavasini Temple, Maa Ashtabhuja Temple, Parikrama Path and Jana Savahiya sites of Maa Kali Khoh Temple will be developed in the triangular region of Mirzapur. For this, the state government has made a provision to give 200 crore rupees.
Along with this, a budget provision of Rs 30 crore has been made for renovation and reconstruction of protected temples. Ved Vigyan Kendra will be set up at Naimisharanya in Sitapur and a provision of Rs 100 crore has been made for this. 2,000 crore rupees have been given to deal with the problem of stray animals.
Emphasis on one trillion economy
Finance Minister Suresh Khanna said that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has targeted the state’s economy to make one trillion dollars. For this, the state government has prepared an action plan in 10 Sector-Agriculture and Promotion Services, Infra, Industry, IT and Electronics, Health and Family Welfare, Education, Tourism, Urban Development, Financial Services, Energy, Capital Investment.
The Finance Minister said that 4% budget has been allocated for social security schemes, including pension, scholarships etc. For employment generation MNREGA, Skills Development Special provisions have been made for Mission, Youth Entrepreneur Development Campaign etc. In addition, there is a provision of 6% budget for health services. This includes Ayushman Bharat Yojana, Upgradation of Primary Health Centers etc.
11% budget has been allocated to farmers for financial assistance, crop insurance, solar pump scheme, sugarcane price payment etc. The government of Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh has allocated 13% budget for education sector for progressive development in the field of education in the state. This includes ICT labs in schools, smart classes, plan to create digital library in polytechnic institutions, etc.
