Maternity is full of guilt… Emotional post of IAS officer on Women’s Day is viral

Whatever you are in the profession, it is most challenging to be a mother. Something similar is believed by the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Divya Mittal. On the occasion of Women’s Day, Divya balanced her professional commitments and wrote an emotional post on the challenges of motherhood. Talking on X, Divya admitted that even though she had studied in India’s two most prestigious institutions – IITs and IIMs and passed the country’s most difficult entrance examination to become a civil servant, none of them could prepare them for the challenges of becoming a mother.

Maternity challenging

On Saturday, the IAS officer shared many views about raising two daughters as well as balanced his challenging career. He wrote on X, “I am an IAS officer. I have studied with IIT and IIM. I have struggled to achieve all this. But I could not prepare anything for the challenges of my upbringing of my two daughters.”

In the next tweet, he revealed that his elder daughter is eight years old. “The world already tries to close his small voice. We cannot let him reduce our light.” He also said that as a guardian, he believes that his duty is to teach his daughters that his voice matters, even if he has to face criticism. He said, “Teach him to be respectable but to be firm. Tell him that his voice matters, even if he is trembling.”

After this, Divya confessed that she often gets tired emotionally by balanceing her professional obligations along with her responsibilities as a mother. However, he remembered that at such a time, his daughter’s hugs remember that children learn from their parents.

She wrote, “I cry a few nights- tired, under too much stress. But then she hugs me, says, ‘You are my hero.’ They see us, they learn flexibility from our failures that it is okay to fall and then get up. “

He further said that his job has taught him that he should let his daughters make their mistakes and learn from them. “Not their crutches, become their support. Let them fall and let them get up. Just show them that whatever happens, you will be with them.”

Divya said that maternity is full of guilt and mothers constantly question themselves. Their advice? “Forgive yourself. You are enough”. She further writes, “If you have more than one child, then your responsibility is 10 times more. Be more than loving. Explain to them why you are choosing what you are doing. This will shape their world attitude.”

He advised the mothers to give their best in whatever they do, because the children learn by looking at their parents and for the parents who raise their daughters, Divya advised, “Teach him to be true to herself, his feelings are his property. Teach him to use sympathy, love and kindness to improve the world.”

He said, “Life is not a popularity competition. He does not need to be liked to get respect. It is not in the acceptance of others. He only needs to please himself. Give him so much love that no rejection, no criticism, no social standard can break his confidence.”

Divya’s post has put a series of reactions. One user wrote, “Very beautiful post … while I am the mother of a 10 -year -old son, I agree with all your words. Life is not appropriate for boys.

The other wrote, “Success in IIT, IIM and UPSC was only a matter of tutorial level. To become a parent? This is the real boss fight.”
