Jairam Ramesh claimed that even though Modani can and has taken over the institutions of India, the criminal activities exposed outside the country cannot be hidden in this way.
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said on Thursday that the closure of American investment and research company Hindenburg Research does not mean that ‘Modani’ has got a clean chit. Referring to the cases related to Adani Group and Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI), he also said that these are serious criminal acts which can be fully investigated only by the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC).
In fact, the news of the sudden closure of American investment and research company Hindenburg Research on Thursday surprised everyone. Its founder Nate Anderson himself gave this information on Wednesday. The company came into limelight after releasing a report alleging huge irregularities and rigging against industrialist Gautam Adani and his group. Adani Group had rejected all the allegations of Hindenburg.
Jairam Ramesh said in a statement, “The closure of Hindenburg Research in no way means that ‘Modani’ has got a clean chit.” He said, “The Hindenburg Report, which came out in January 2023, proved to be so serious that the Supreme Court of India appointed an expert committee to investigate the allegations made in it against the Adani Group, which is patronized by none other than the Prime Minister himself.” was forced to form.”
The Congress leader said the Hindenburg report covered only a part of the “Modani mega-scam”, namely the violations of securities laws. Ramesh claimed, “This matter is even more serious. It involves the misuse of India’s foreign policy to further enrich the Prime Minister’s close friends at the expense of the national interest. It also involves forcing Indian businessmen to sell their key assets. This includes misuse of investigative agencies to force Adani to take action and help Adani create monopoly in sectors like airports, ports, defense and cement.”
The Congress leader said this includes the issue of capture of institutions like SEBI, whose chief (Madhavi Buch) continues to hold her post despite clear evidence of conflict of interest and financial links with Adani. Ramesh claimed, “Even though Modani can and has taken over India’s institutions, the criminal activities exposed outside the country cannot be hidden in this way.”
Jairam Ramesh said, “All these are serious criminal acts linked to crony capitalism which can only be fully investigated by a Joint Parliamentary Committee. Without the JPC, India’s institutions would have been completely controlled only by the powerful and Will work to protect those close to the Prime Minister, India’s poor and middle class will be left to fend for themselves.”
