More than 60% turnout in Delhi assembly elections, BJP leads in exit poll


New Delhi:

Delhi had more than 60 percent voting in the assembly elections on Wednesday. During the voting, however, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accused each other of distributing money and disturbances including fake voting, in this election, the election was voted around the 2020 assembly elections. The last time was 62.59 percent polling. In the last election, Arvind Kejriwal -led party won 62 out of 70 seats, while BJP got eight more and Congress got zero seats.

Long queues of voters were seen outside the polling stations in various constituencies and people waited even after the scheduled time of ending the polling.

Soon after, the results of the exit poll started coming, many of which have been projected by the BJP’s victory over the ruling AAP, while the Congress is shown defeating once again. The voter app of the Election Commission was updated at 10.50 pm according to which Delhi was 60.10 percent polling.

Delhi has a total of 1.56 crore voters. The vote percentage is expected to increase after the officials updated the figures from all 13,766 polling stations. The Election Commission said in an official statement, “All 70 assembly seats in Delhi were voted in a peaceful and enthusiastic atmosphere today. Voters were pleased with the polling process and facilities at polling stations. ”

The statement said, “All voters standing in the queue were allowed to cast their votes,” the statement said, “After six o’clock in the evening.

Polling stations across the city were decorated and posters of celebrities were pasted to make voters realize the feeling of true celebration, on which special messages were written. One such poster had a picture of Lata Mangeshkar, while many others had a picture of Paralympian.

There are a total of 699 candidates in the election ground. This election will decide whether you come to power for the third time in Delhi or BJP gets a chance to form a government in the national capital after 27 years. The Congress also tried its best to re -establish its penetration in the politics of the city.

President Draupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna, Union Minister S.K. Jaishankar and Hardeep Singh Puri, Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and AAP supremo Kejriwal were the first to vote.

After casting his vote at the polling station in Moti Bagh, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that everyone has worked hard to conduct the election smoothly. During the day, a round of allegations and counter-allegations between the Aam Aadmi Party and the BJP continued and both accused each other of disturbing voting in various constituencies.
The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Delhi had told the ‘PTI-language’ in the afternoon that the voting process was going on “smoothly”. The CEO reported that some EVMs were replaced during practical voting and actual polling.

In Seilampur, an uncomfortable situation arose when a BJP leader alleged that some people wearing a burqa were trying for fake voting. However, the police have denied any fake voting in the area.
Police sources said that two people allegedly tried to vote in Kasturba Nagar. They have been caught and they are being questioned.

AAP workers shouted slogans following allegations of fake voting by BJP in Seilampur. However, the Delhi Police dismissed allegations of fake voting and said that adequate security including paramilitary forces personnel is deployed in the area.

Voters, elders, transgender and women who voted for the first time in the elections to form a new government exercised their franchise enthusiastically. At least six exit polls predicted BJP’s victory, while two have said that you will remain in power. Two other poles showed a tough competition between the two, in which the BJP got an edge.

AAP’s national spokesperson Reena Gupta dismissed the exit poll results and said that the party will form the government again in Delhi and Arvind Kejriwal will become the Chief Minister for the fourth consecutive time.

BJP’s Delhi unit president Virendra Sachdeva said that the victory of the party will be more spectacular than the exit poll.
After casting his vote with his family members, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal appealed to the people of Delhi to exercise their franchise for “good schools, hospitals and development of the city”.

Kejriwal, who is contesting from New Delhi seat for the fourth consecutive time, is face to contest BJP’s Pravesh Verma and Congress’s Sandeep Dixit. Kejriwal told reporters, “My parents have health problems, but they were very excited about voting since morning.” His wife Sunita Kejriwal and son Pulkit Kejriwal also accompanied him to the polling station.

Kejriwal said that it is expected that people will vote for “those who work”. His wife Sunita Kejriwal said that people are “very intelligent” and will make the right choice. Sunita said, “They will not tolerate hooliganism.”
