Demonstrations took place in the state demanding the removal of the grave of Aurangzeb in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in Maharashtra. During this time violence took place in the palace area of Nagpur. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad burnt the effigy of Aurangzeb, followed by stone pelting among the two sides. During the violence, several trains vandalized and arson. DCP Niketan Kadam was attacked with an ax. 55 people have been detained.
The Bajrang Dal and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) have demanded the removal of the tomb soon. Bajrang Dal says that if the tomb is not removed, then its condition will also be like Babri Masjid. Aurangzeb’s grave was built in 1707: The grave of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb is in Khuldabad in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. According to historians, when Aurangzeb died in 1707, he was buried near the dargah of his spiritual guru Sheikh Zainuddin in Khuldabad.
