- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. Will launch development projects worth ₹2 lakh crore. Will lay the foundation stone of Green Hydrogen Hub at Pudimadaka in Anakapalle district, where green methanol, green urea and aviation fuel will be produced.
- The 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas will begin in Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha. It is celebrated to commemorate the return of Mahatma Gandhi to India from South Africa on 9 January 1915. The first Pravasi Bharatiya Divas conference was held in 2003. Since 2015, it is organized every 2 years.

1. Voting in Delhi on 5th February, results on 8th, 33 thousand booths built for 1.5 crore voters
Voting will be held on 70 assembly seats of Delhi on 5 February, the results will come on 8 February. More than 33 thousand polling stations will be built for 1.55 crore voters, out of which 2.08 lakh are first time voters. By-election will also be held on Milkipur assembly seat of Ayodhya on 5th February, the results will come on 8th February.
Account of last election: In the 2020 assembly elections, AAP won 62 seats, while BJP won 8 seats. Congress could not even open its account. In comparison to 2015 and 2020, this time the elections and results are being announced a week earlier. 2. 7.1 magnitude earthquake in China: 126 killed, 188 injured; Impact in Sikkim and Uttarakhand including Nepal-Bhutan
Due to the impact of the earthquake, the walls of many houses in Tibet cracked. More than 1000 houses have been damaged.
An earthquake of 7.1 magnitude occurred in Tibet province of China. 126 people died, while 188 were injured. The impact of the earthquake was also seen in Nepal, Bhutan, Sikkim and Uttarakhand of India. The supply of both electricity and water has stopped in Shijang, Tibet. China has closed the tourist places of Mount Everest.
Where was the epicenter of the earthquake: The epicenter of the earthquake was at the place where the tectonic plates of India and Eurasia collide. 6. Now you can become assistant professor without NET; UGC draft guidelines released
Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan released draft UGC guidelines for faculty recruitment and promotion in higher education institutions. According to this, to become an Assistant Professor, it will not be necessary to be NET qualified in the subject. Experts in their field, who have 10 years of experience of working at senior level and who have a good track record, can also become Vice Chancellor (VC).
Objective: To increase flexibility: UGC Chairman M. Jagadish Kumar said, ‘The new rules will help in selecting faculty from multi-subject background.
