Mother had threatened on Instagram – ‘One of ours is gone, one of yours will also go.
The murdered body of a youth was found at around 3 pm on Saturday in Sar village of Rajkot in Gujarat. Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased Girish Rathod had left Sardhar village to go to Ramod for his mother’s operation and reached Sar village, where he was killed by 8 knife attacks.

Police investigation revealed that the deceased Girish Rathod was murdered by his sister’s former mother-in-law Sonalben alias Saluben Sohlia (age 50) along with two minors. Therefore, the police arrested both the minor and the female accused and took legal action. During interrogation, it was revealed that the son of the accused mother had committed suicide due to grief over the divorce. That is why the mother took revenge for her son’s death by killing her daughter-in-law’s brother.
The accused mother had planned the murder along with two minors. Rajkot city ACP South Bhavesh Jadhav said that on January 18, 2025, the body of an unknown person was found near Sar village. Upon investigation, it was found that the body was that of Girish Dilipbhai Rathod (age 32), who ran an electrical shop at Sardar Bus Stand. After talking to his mother Labhuben on phone, Girish was going by bike from Sardhar village to Ramod for her eye surgery.
Meanwhile, on the way, he was stopped near Sar village and he was murdered by stabbing him eight times on different parts of his body including his stomach, head and hands. Due to 8 consecutive knife attacks, the intestines of the deceased had also come out. The fingers of the deceased youth Girish were also cut off. Police investigation revealed that the deceased Girish Rathod was murdered by his sister’s former mother-in-law Sonalben alias Saluben Sohlia (age 50) along with two minors. Therefore, the police arrested both the minor and the female accused and took legal action.
Mother had asked to take revenge by going live on Instagram-Facebook. The reason for killing was revenge. Two minors including his sister’s former mother-in-law Sonal alias Salu Sohalia (50 years) are involved in the murder of Girish Rathod. After interrogating the accused Sonal, the police came to know that Sonal’s son Ajay had committed suicide one and a half months ago after divorce from his wife Jayshree.
Mother Sonal, saddened by the loss of her only son, decided to commit murder due to the loss of her son. She often went live on Instagram-Facebook and vowed revenge. On January 18, he planned and brutally murdered Jayshree’s brother. Sonal, in her grief over the loss of her son, got his picture tattooed on her hand and ‘Maro Savaj’ written in his memory.

The complainant also told in the complaint that the accused Sonalben had earlier threatened Labhuben, the mother of the deceased youth Girish, saying, ‘If one of us has gone, then one of you will also go…!’
