Mountains of garbage in Delhi: BJP’s attack on the failure of AAP government, voice of protest echoed from Ghazipur. News & Features Network

Delhi The mountains of garbage, which have been a major problem for years in Ghazipur, Bhalswa and Okhla, are now at the center of political debate. These mountains not only spoil the beauty of the city, but are also having a serious impact on the health of the people of Delhi. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his AAP government had promised to remove them 10 years ago, but till date the problem remains the same. Now the MCD has set a new deadline of December 2028 to remove these mountains, due to which the public anger is increasing.

Political fight over garbage mountain

The MCD in Delhi was held by the BJP for a long time, during which the AAP government held the BJP responsible for these problems. But the political equations changed as soon as AAP captured MCD in December 2022. Now BJP has started raising questions on the AAP government.

Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Vijay Goel protested against the Ghazipur garbage mountain. While taking out a padyatra from fish market to Ghazipur, he fiercely targeted the Kejriwal government. Goyal says that Delhi’s problems remain the same—be it broken roads, pollution of Yamuna, or the poor condition of hospitals.

problems of local residents

People living near Ghazipur and Bhalswa are extremely troubled by these mountains of garbage. The foul smell, mosquito infestation, and deteriorating air quality have made their lives miserable. Many times promises have been made about recycling and construction of roads, but these have no visible impact on the ground.

AAP government’s clarification and BJP’s attack

Arvind Kejriwal recently acquitted himself in this case and said that due to the Corona epidemic and personal problems, his government could not work on time. He also promised that if the public gives him another chance, he will solve all these problems.

On the other hand, BJP launched a scathing attack on AAP saying that the Kejriwal government is only busy collecting votes through free schemes. Goyal said, “Kejriwal’s free-for-all politics has turned Delhi into a dustbin. If he stops distributing free raadi, his party will disappear.”

Options and Solutions: An Unsolved Challenge

Experts believe that removing these mountains of garbage requires long-term planning and solid management.

  1. Recycling and Waste Management: By recycling garbage properly it can be used in road construction and other projects.
  2. adopting scientific methods: Garbage should be disposed of using technical and environment-friendly methods.
  3. public participation: Solutions can be found by involving local residents and experts in the process.

BJP’s Padyatra: Symbol of public displeasure

On Sunday, BJP organized a big protest against the Kejriwal government in Ghazipur. The march was also attended by local residents who are most affected by these mountains of garbage. During the demonstration, Goyal said that the AAP government only makes excuses and does not provide concrete solutions to the problems.

Political consequences and electoral impact

This issue can have a direct impact on the upcoming assembly elections. BJP is loudly highlighting AAP’s old promises and failures. At the same time, Kejriwal government is asking for another chance from the public.

Not conclusions, but public expectations

Delhi’s mountains of garbage have become not only physical but also political. The public is now expecting which government will take concrete steps to remove these mountains. Will Kejriwal fulfill his promise, or will the BJP capitalize on this issue and return to power in Delhi? Only time will tell.
