Union Home Minister Amit Shah has given a clear message to the officials to restore calm in Manipur, which has been burning in the fire of violence for a long time. He said that the central government is fully committed to restoring permanent peace in Manipur and providing all necessary assistance in this regard.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren resigned from his post on 13 February 2025 for this violence. This was then discovered by their option. However, the assembly was finally dissolved and President’s rule was imposed in the state when political consent was not created. The tenure of the Manipur Assembly is still up to 2027.
