New Duniya Representative, Jabalpur. The price of smart meters in Madhya Pradesh may not have to pay yet, but for the next 10 years, the installment may have to be deposited in the name of smart meters. This claim has been made by objectioner Advocate Rajendra Aggarwal.

Seeing the data filed in the verification petition of the current power company, he has objected to the MP Electricity Regulatory Commission. He claims that by mixing three types of tariffs, consumers will have to pay around 25 thousand rupees in one meter for about 10 years.

Price will have to be paid through electricity tariff

He said that the power management company has not yet fixed the price of smart meters, but consumers will have to pay the price of smart meter through electricity tariffs every year. It will be an installment in a way.

The amount will also have to be paid on the maintenance of the meter

In the name of maintenance of meter, the amount will have to be given to the company installing the smart meter. The objectioner said that the former area distribution company stated in the verification petition of the financial year 2023-24 that 2.49 lakh smart meters have been installed.

For this, the company has demanded Rs 44 crore worth Rs 1770 per meter. Apart from this, 48 crore of lease fee has been spent. He said that only five percent smart meters are installed in the state.

MPWZ has made this demand

Right now the meters are not completely installed and the power management company has demanded Rs 175 crore. The Western Region Electricity Distribution Company has demanded Rs 123 crore with 18 percent GST in addition to Rs 3 thousand per meter. In the western region too, about two and a half million meters of financial year 2023-24 was found.

Smart meter has ten paise per unit impact

Officers Rajendra Aggarwal said that in the tariff petition of the year 2025-26, the power company has demanded 754 crores for the smart meter. If the MP Electricity Regulatory Commission accepts this demand, then the tariff will increase ten paise per unit due to the smart meter.

Electricity demand reached 18,335 MW

New Duniya Representative, Jabalpur: Electricity demand in Madhya Pradesh has once again increased. On Thursday, there was a demand for 18 thousand 335 MW of electricity in the state. Whereas in the second week of January, there was a decline in demand for electricity in the state and it reached 16 thousand 394 MW.

However, the weather is changing and the Rabi season is towards the end. Therefore, demand will decline again in the coming time. There was 18383 MW on Wednesday, 18130 MW on Tuesday and 18019 MW on Monday.

The power companies had an idea that electricity demand would increase once again from 15 to 30 January. Demand was estimated to reach 20 thousand MW. Even after the change in the weather, the power companies had made arrangements for 20 thousand MW power. This was the reason that even after the demand increases, there was no power crisis in the state.
