Mumbai Airport again selected the best airport with more than 4 crore passengers, won the eighth consecutive year ASQ Award

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has won the award for the best airport with more than 40 million passengers in the Asia-Pacific sector. This prestigious honor was given at the Airport Service Quality (ASCU) Awards of Airports Council International (ACI). This is the eighth consecutive time when the CSMIA has achieved this feat, which shows its commitment to provide world class facilities and set new standards in airport operations.

This success of CSMIA at the ASCU Awards highlights its outstanding services, innovation and first attitude. The award is given on the basis of feedback taken from passengers, which is collected by third party and verified by ACI. Last year, CSMIA took several important initiatives to upgrade facilities and facilitate operations, making it one of the leading airports in the world.

Record increase in number of passengers and airport operations

The CSMIA welcomed a total of 54.8 million passengers in 2024, 6.3% higher than 2023 and 19.41% more than the epidemic. The airport operated 346,617 flights (ATMs) with an increase of 3.2%. December 2024 was the busiest month of this year, with 5.05 million passengers traveling, while on 21 December 2024, a record 1,70,000 passengers passed through the airport in a day.

On this unprecedented achievement, the CSMIA spokesperson said, “It is a matter of pride for us to win the ACI AS CU award for the eighth consecutive time. It is a proof of the hard work of our dedicated employees and the trust of the passengers. This award inspires us that we keep making the experience of traveling in CSMIA better.”

Leader in digital innovation: Digital gateway starts for travelers

Mumbai Airport completely changed the experience of passengers with ‘Digital Gateway’ features throughout the year. To make the journey easier for Digiatra and non-digestible passengers, the CSMIA increased the number of entry points (Egets) of the terminal from 24 to 68, which is the highest in the country. This expansion increased the ability to process 7,440 passengers per hour at Terminal 2 (T2) and 2,160 passengers on terminal 1 (T1). The current capacity has increased by 3 times. With the start of the digital gateway, the waiting time at the entrance decreased by one minute.

Growing with the Indian government’s ‘Digital India’ dream, CSMIA is at the forefront of digital change with a digital payment initiative in the Multi-Level Car Park (MLCP). Passengers at the airport can easily make digital payments through mobile wallet, debit/credit card, UPI and fastag. The CSMIA adopted the fastgus up to 66 percent and is being given priority to adopt digital through strategic cooperation and incentives.

Adulting its technical leadership, Adani Airports launched ‘Avio’. It is India’s first comprehensive digital airport platform for stakeholders to provide real-time data sharing and safety checks, gate changes, baggage claims and immediate passenger updates at the waiting time.

Relaxation and health of passengers

A heart -touching initiative has been started in Terminal 2 of Mumbai Airport. Nine special trained dogs have been brought to improve the experience of passengers. These dear friends are available from Friday to Sunday from 3 pm to 11 pm. These include dogs like Golden Ritrver, Maltese, Rescue Huski, Shih Tzu, Lhasa Appso and Labrador. They relax the passengers with their calm presence. Domestic Level 3 and post -immigration areas posted in special places such as areas, these cute ambassadors relax, reduce travel worries and turn the airport’s journey into a pleasant and stress -free experience.
