Father made a statement when Shehzadi Khan was hanged in UAE.
Lucknow: Last month, Shehzadi Khan, an Indian woman in Abu Dhabi, was sentenced to death. At the same time, his father has alleged that his daughter Shehzadi Khan did not get justice and the Government of India did not provide any assistance to the family. Family lawyer Ali Mohammad has called the hanging as a ‘judicial murder under the guise of judicial murder’. Shehzadi was a resident of Goyra Mughlai village in Banda district of Uttar Pradesh.
‘He did not get justice’
Shehzadi’s father Shabbir Khan said, “He did not get justice, sir. We made the best effort on our behalf. We contacted the Government of India and applied at many places, but we had neither money nor had any means to go there and go there. The government did not support us. ”Shehzadi Khan was in custody of Abu Dhabi police since February 10, 2023 and was sentenced to death on 31 July 2023. The news of him being hanged came to light during the hearing in the Delhi High Court on Monday, when the Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that he had been hanged last month. His funeral will take place on March 5 in Abu Dhabi.
There was no information about hanging
Shehzadi Khan’s family was not aware of her being hanged by 28 February. On its official confirmation, the family got information. Shabbir Khan said that he had last talked to his daughter on 14 February. He was hanged a day later. Asked if the government had assured any support, Shabbir Khan said, “No, we did not get any help.” He said that his family had approached leaders and even film personalities, but to no avail. Expressing his pain, Shabbir Khan said, “Yogi ji and Modi ji are not daughters, so they cannot understand this pain. If someone was close to them, they would have taken action. ”
Ministry of External Affairs gave reply
However, the Ministry of External Affairs said on Monday that the Indian Embassy provided all possible legal aid to Shehzadi, including sending mercy petition and request to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government. In the United Arab Emirates, Shehzadi was convicted on charges of killing an infant and was sentenced to death. The Supreme Court of the United Arab Emirates ‘Court of Cassation’ retained the sentence. The United Arab Emirates officials informed the (Indian) Embassy on 28 February 2025 that Shehzadi’s sentence was implemented according to local laws. The Ministry of External Affairs said that Shehzadi’s family has been informed about the case.
Why got hanged sentence
Shabbir Khan said that his daughter used to work for a woman named Nazia in Abu Dhabi, who recently gave birth to a child. According to Shabbir Khan, when the child was four months old, he was given a vaccine, which is usually given in six months. He alleged that the infant died of vaccine, but Shehzadi was incorrectly accused of murder and sentenced to death. Shabbir Khan claimed that the child’s mother used her influence to ensure the blame of princess, due to which she was sentenced to death.
Last talk on 14 February
Shehzadi’s family advocate Ali Mohammed said on Monday that his latest petition before the Delhi High Court was filed only to find out whether he is still alive or he was hanged in Abu Dhabi. He said, “We wrote a letter to the Indian Embassy, the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of External Affairs appealing to take the matter forward. But what happened in the end, we cannot say. “According to Mohammed, Shehzadi’s father received a call on 14 February, stating that this was his last conversation as per his (Shehzadi) wish and would be hanged in a day or two.
Funeral will be held on March 5
The lawyer said, “We again approached the Prime Minister’s Office and Ministry of External Affairs on 21 February, but no information was given. Two-three days later we filed a writ petition in the court and today officially confirmed that he had been hanged. His last rites will be performed in Abu Dhabi on March 5. ”Mohammad strongly denied the claim that the Government of India had given any assurance or provided any assistance. However, he admitted that if family members want to go to Abu Dhabi for the funeral, the government has offered assistance. (Input-PTI)
