Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shared many interesting stories from his childhood to his political journey in his podcast debut with ‘Zerodha’ co-founder Nikhil Kamath. During a conversation on Nikhil Kamath’s YouTube channel People by WTF, Modi mentioned his special connect with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The Prime Minister told that Chinese philosopher Hiuen Tsang once lived in his village in Gujarat. In China, Hiuen Tsang also stayed in Xi Jinping’s village for some time. Because of this there is a special connect between the Chinese President and him.
Prime Minister Modi said these things regarding Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to India in 2014. PM Modi said, “In 2014, when I became Prime Minister, world leaders made a courtesy call. I received a courtesy call from Chinese President Xi Jinping. He expressed his best wishes. Jinping himself said that he wanted to come to India. I Said that of course you are welcome to come.

PM further says, “I had read somewhere that Chinese philosopher Hiuen Tsang had lived in my village. Once a filmmaker was going to make a film on him. Then I wrote a letter to the Chinese Embassy or someone that I had read somewhere that you Hiuen Tsang. Before you mention that he was making a film for Tsang, he used to tell the school children to get any stone. If there is anything written on it, then collect it at one place. Then I understood that this is an ancient village. Whenever a person comes here. It must have been an imagination that he would do this, so that thought stuck in my mind too.”
Modi says, “I studied in the primary school of that Gaekwad State. I think I stayed in Gaekwad in my childhood. There was a pond there, so I learned swimming. I used to wash clothes in my house, so I got to know the pond. Later, there was a Narayanacharya High School, where I did my schooling from class 10th to 11th.
