Severe winter continues in the country. Cold weather is showing its effects from hilly areas to plains. Due to this, common people are facing a lot of problems. Apart from this, fog has also become a cause of great trouble for the people in this season. Air, road and rail traffic has been affected due to fog in North India. Also, the Meteorological Department has predicted dense fog in different states of the country for the next two days.
According to the estimates of the Meteorological Department, dense fog is expected in different areas of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and some areas of Uttar Pradesh during late night and morning. Along with this, there is a possibility of dense fog conditions in different areas of Himachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Odisha, Assam and Meghalaya during late night and morning.
Dense fog forecast in these states
IMD estimates that dense fog may prevail over parts of northern Madhya Pradesh and Bihar on January 4, dense fog over Assam and Meghalaya during January 5 and Uttar Pradesh during January 7-9. .
Very dense fog is likely to occur at some places in Uttar Pradesh during late night/morning hours on 3 and 4 January.

Zero visibility at these airports
Zero visibility was recorded at Srinagar, Amritsar and Agra airports of the country at 10.30 pm on Friday night. Visibility was recorded at 50 meters at Palam Airport and 300 meters at Pathankot. Apart from this, visibility was also recorded less than 500 meters at Varanasi, Prayagraj and Chandigarh airports.
More than 400 flights affected
Like Friday morning, Delhi also faced heavy fog in the evening. More than 400 flights were delayed at Delhi Airport on Friday due to dense fog affecting visibility. Visibility reduced to zero due to dense fog in some areas of the national capital.
An official said that operations of more than 400 flights were delayed at Indira Gandhi International Airport, but no flight was diverted.
According to information available on flight tracking website flightradar24.com, 470 flights were delayed at the airport. About 1,300 flights operate daily from Indira Gandhi International Airport.
Dense fog remained at many places in Rajasthan
Cold and fog continued in some parts of Rajasthan on Friday also. The state’s lowest minimum temperature of 5.8 degrees Celsius was recorded in Vanasthali. According to the Meteorological Department, there was dense to very dense fog at some places in the state.
According to the department, the minimum temperature in Mount Abu, the only hill tourist destination of the state, was recorded at 6 degrees Celsius on Friday morning. In the plains, minimum temperatures were recorded at 6.1 degrees in Sriganganagar, 6.2 degrees in Alwar, 6.3 degrees in Nagaur, 6.4 degrees in Pilani, 6.5 degrees Celsius in Chittorgarh and Anta Baran.
The minimum temperature was recorded below 8 degrees Celsius in most major cities across the state. The state capital Jaipur recorded a minimum temperature of 8.8 degrees Celsius on Friday morning.
The department has predicted relief from the harsh winter with the possibility of increase in maximum and minimum temperatures in the state in the coming days.
