Almost the entire North India including Delhi-NCR is shivering with cold at this time. People have started feeling shivering due to the drop in temperature after the rain. The cold winds blowing in Delhi have made the condition of people worse. People are coming out of their homes wearing their thick woolen clothes. The cold wave going on throughout the day in Delhi-NCR and the clouds in the sky have completely changed the mood of the weather. Snowfall on the mountains has increased the torture of cold in the plains. On the occasion of New Year, many states of North India including Delhi will shiver further due to cold.
How is the weather in Delhi?
The wrath of cold is certain to be seen in Delhi even on New Year. Today the maximum temperature will be 15 degrees and the minimum temperature will be 8 degrees. At the same time, fog in the morning and evening can increase people’s problems. However, the weather will remain clear throughout the rest of the day. There is no forecast of rain at present. On New Year i.e. 1 January, the minimum temperature can go up to 9 degrees and the maximum can go up to 17 degrees Celsius. There will also be moderate to dense fog in the morning. The maximum temperature will increase from January 2 to January 5.
Severe cold in Haryana, Punjab
There was severe cold in Haryana and Punjab on Monday and the maximum temperature in both the states was much below normal. Visibility reduced due to dense fog in both the states in the morning. It was extremely cold in Chandigarh during the day and the maximum temperature in the city was recorded at 11.3 degrees Celsius, which is the coldest day so far this winter season, which is 8 degrees below normal. It was extremely cold during the day at most places in Haryana. The day started with dense fog in Punjab today. There is no alert of fog or cold wave for the new year. The weather will be clear from January 2 to January 5. Cold wave along with dense fog can cause trouble in Haryana also. The weather will be clear from January 1 to January 5.
Know the weather condition of UP, Bihar
In Uttar Pradesh too, the mercury has fallen very rapidly after the rains. This change in weather has increased the problems of the people. People are feeling the biting cold in the morning and evening. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather may remain dry in the state on December 31, but there is also a possibility of dense fog at many places. The effect of cold wave will be visible in Bihar from the first day of the new year. There will be fog in most of the districts in the morning, but the fog will clear with the increase in wind speed. However, it is a matter of relief that the day will be sunny.
Severe cold due to cold wave in Kashmir
Severe cold continues due to cold wave in Gulmarg and Pahalgam of Kashmir. However, there has been some relief from winter in other parts of the valley. The Meteorological Department said that the minimum temperature was recorded below minus 10 degrees Celsius in Gulmarg, a tourist destination famous for ‘skiing’ activities in North Kashmir. The minimum temperature in Pahalgam was recorded at minus 9.2 degrees Celsius, while it was minus 8.5 degrees Celsius last night.
Kashmir valley in the grip of ‘Chilla-e-Kalan’
Presently Kashmir valley is in the grip of ‘Chilla-e-Kalan’. This is considered the most difficult time of winter, which started from 21st December. ‘Chilla-e-Kalan’ receives maximum snowfall during the 40 day period. ‘Chilla-e-Kalan’ will end on January 30 next year, but the cold wave will continue. After 40 days, there will be a 20-day ‘Chilla-e-Khurd’ and a 10-day ‘Chilla-e-Bachcha’ when the cold in the valley will gradually reduce.
