Delhi Liquor Case And CAG Report: BJP today intensified its attack on AAP over the leaked Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report regarding Delhi’s controversial liquor policy. Questioning the authenticity of the CAG report, AAP leader Sanjay Singh asked whether the alleged report had come from the BJP office.
The report highlights major lapses and violations allegedly under the leadership of former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. The report has created a new controversy ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections on February 5.
However, the CAG report has not been officially released yet.
Some parts of the alleged CAG report have reached the public domain. It alleges that the liquor policy of the Delhi government caused a loss of over Rs 2,026 crore to the state, including Rs 890 crore due to failure to re-tender surrendered retail liquor licenses. The exemption given to zonal licensees reportedly resulted in an additional loss of Rs 941 crore.
Along with this, key approvals of the Lieutenant Governor (LG), Cabinet and Assembly were allegedly ignored. The report further claims that the Manish Sisodia-led Group of Ministers (GoM) ignored the recommendations of an expert panel.
Capitalizing on the alleged report, BJP has accused the AAP government of gross corruption and mismanagement.
BJP leader Anurag Thakur said, “If their (AAP) policies were so good then why did they withdraw it? Today AAP has no solution to Delhi’s broken roads, dirty water in homes, rising electricity bills, mountains of garbage and pollution.” The answer is no. Today the people of Delhi want freedom from ‘AAP’.
Sanjay Singh lashed out at BJP
AAP MP Sanjay Singh questioned the authenticity of the alleged report. Sanjay Singh asked, “Where is the CAG report? Do you have a copy? Is it made in the BJP office? The BJP is scared. They have become mentally unstable. We cannot react to everything.” On one hand, they are saying that the CAG report has not been presented yet, but on the other hand, they are saying that it has been released, what does that mean?”
Congress called it ‘scam’
Congress has also joined this attack. Delhi Congress President Devendra Yadav criticized the delay in presenting the CAG report in the Assembly, alleging that it indicated an agreement between the BJP and AAP to suppress the report. Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit described the policy as a “blatant scam” and accused the Kejriwal government of wasting government funds.
