Not Shaheen Afridi or Kagiso Rabada but Glenn Maxwell called this Indian GOAT

Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has described Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah as potentially the “best fast bowler of all time”. Due to Jasprit Bumrah’s “different action” and unplayable balls, Glenn Maxwell has considered him the best. The first match of the five-Test series was played between India and Australia in Perth. In this match, the Indian team registered a historic victory of 295 runs. India’s winning captain Bumrah’s bowling and his captaincy were highly praised.

The Australian all-rounder, while discussing his place among the ‘greatest of all time’ (GOAT) on The Grade Cricketer podcast, said that Bumrah’s greatness goes beyond the number of wickets taken. Glenn Maxwell said, “Bumrah is potentially the best fast bowler of all time. It’s probably not about the number of wickets he takes across formats, but the unique action he has and the players he faces. He’s got extraordinary ability with the ball.” He can swing the ball both ways, bowl fast, and beat you on the inside and outside edges. Also, he has an effective slow ball.”

Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah again topped the ICC Test bowling rankings by overtaking Kagiso Rabada and Josh Hazlewood on Wednesday, thanks to his match-winning bowling spell against Australia in Perth. Acting captain Bumrah took eight wickets for 72 runs in the match as India defeated Australia by 295 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the five-match series being played for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Before the Perth Test, Bumrah was at third place in the bowling rankings. Now he has reached a career-best 883 ranking points, leaving behind South Africa’s Rabada (872 points) and Australia’s Hazlewood (860 points). Bumrah’s teammate Mohammad Siraj took five wickets in the Perth Test, due to which he also gained three places and reached 25th position.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, who played a brilliant inning of 161 runs in the first Test against Australia, with the help of his career-best 825 points, reached second place in the batsmen’s rankings behind England’s Joe Root (903 points). Veteran star batsman Virat Kohli continues his upward climb as he moves up nine places to 13th position after his 30th Test century.

Indian wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant has maintained the sixth position with 736 points. Although Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin did not play against Australia in the Perth Test, their pair is at the top in the Test all-rounder rankings.
