Indian captain Rohit Sharma and spinner Ravichandran Ashwin reached the press conference together.
A funny incident happened during the press conference of Indian captain Rohit Sharma after the Gaba test. After the retirement of spinner Ravichandran Ashwin on Wednesday, the Indian captain was questioned about Ashwin’s role.
A reporter asked Rohit- Will Pujara, Rahane and Ashwin be seen in different roles? Rohit started answering this question. Then he remembered that Rahane-Pujara have not taken retirement yet. In such a situation, Rohit laughingly said- Only Ravichandran Ashwin has taken retirement. Rahane and Pujara are still active cricketers and can come anytime, the doors of Team India are open for everyone.
The Indian captain said in a joking tone that you guys will get me killed. Actually, the Indian captain had earlier said that when he sees next to him, Rahane-Pujara will not be there. After remembering, Rohit corrected his mistake.
Full story of Rohit Sharma…
We have played so much cricket with Ashwin and we have great memories. When it is seen that these cricketers are not in the team, there is a feeling of a slight absence. We are friends and always will be. Will not be together on tour, but keeps meeting. Ajinkya lives in Bombay, let’s meet. Pujara remains hidden in Rajkot. He will be with you guys in a year or two. He has won so many matches that if you look around, no one else is seen like him. Pujara has not taken retirement brother. He may come in the coming time. You people will get him killed friend, he has not taken retirement. He may come in the coming time. Discussions happen, whenever we get a chance we discuss players. Who is playing well in India A? We discuss and tell BCCI to keep an eye on them. One eye is on the team and the other is on the coming generation. As a captain you have to think about the entire team. How to run the team, what mindset to have and what to do next.
Rohit hugged Ashwin after announcing retirement.
Said on Ashwin’s retirement…
When I came to Perth, Ashwin told me about retirement, if a player takes a decision then it should be respected. They will go home tomorrow (Thursday).
Said- I did not bat well, there is no problem in accepting it Rohit also talked about his batting. He said- ‘I did not bat well. There is no problem in accepting it. As long as my body, mind and legs are moving well, I am playing. Runs don’t tell the whole story, but right now I feel fine playing.
Credit to Rahul-Jadeja for saving the match After the match was drawn, Rohit Sharma looked disappointed due to the rain. He said, ‘It is not right to have such frequent rain interruptions, but reaching a series score of 1-1 for the Boxing-Day Test in Melbourne gives you confidence. Full credit for saving this match goes to Rahul and Jadeja. It was pleasant to watch him play.
