Mumbai. Bharatiya Janata Party leader and general secretary Vinod Tawde, surrounded by allegations of distributing money in Maharashtra Assembly elections, has sent a defamation notice to Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and party spokesperson Supriya Srinet. In this notice sent on November 21, Vinod Tawde clearly stated that the allegations leveled against the three leaders are ‘motivated by political malice’. There is no truth in this at all. So all three should apologise. If he does not apologize then the court will file a defamation case. This case will be worth Rs 100 crore.
Vinod Tawde said in his notice, ‘I have been in politics for the last four decades. My political life has been spotless. There is not a single allegation of corruption in this. But, at present, there is no truth in the kind of allegations that have been made against me. The allegations leveled against me are completely wrong. Through these allegations, an attempt is being made to tarnish my image in politics.
He said that those who are accusing him out of political bias should first confirm the allegations being leveled against him. Prove that there is even an iota of truth in them.
Vinod Tawde said on Friday, ‘…Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and Supriya Shrinate alleged that Vinod Tawde distributed Rs 5 crore among the people. But, when the police investigated, nothing came to light to make it clear that I distributed money among people. The policy of Congress is to lie and mislead people at any cost. In view of this, I have sent a defamation notice to all three leaders. I have clearly said in the notice that ‘you apologize to me, otherwise I will go to court and take further action’.
Recall that on November 18, the police had recovered more than Rs 9 lakh in cash from Virar Hotel in Nalasopara. Vinod Tawde was present in the hotel at that time. Meanwhile, Bahujan Vikas Aghadi MLA Kshitij Thakur accused Vinod Tawde of distributing money among the people. Bahujan Vikas Aghadi President Hitendra Thakur said that we have come to know that Vinod Tawde along with his supporters is distributing money among the people. Our supporters recovered Rs 9 lakh from the spot, which was later handed over to the administration. Hitendra Thakur claims that a diary has also been found from Vinod Tawde, in which the complete account is recorded.
On the other hand, Vinod Tawde has claimed that he was taking a meeting of the workers. He was preparing further plans in the meeting as to what further steps should be taken. Congress Party National President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi had raised questions by posting Vinod Tawde’s video. Rahul had said in his post that from which safe house has this money come?
