Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is giving a new shape to politics, economy, security and society in different countries of the world due to the fast pace of technological development in the field of technology.
At the Paris AI summit, Modi said, ‘AI is writing code for humanity in this century. But it is very different from other technology stops in human history. AI is developing with unprecedented speed and scale and it is also being adopted rapidly. India is presiding over this AI summit with France.
The Prime Minister said that countries around the world need to work together on AI so that AI’s development policies and standards give a glimpse of shared values ​​of all countries. Along with this, take care of dealing with the risks arising due to technology and trust between all stakeholders.
Modi said that the law to operate AI and regulate this technology should not be limited to dealing with risks and competition only. It should also pay attention to the use of AI for promoting innovation and the good of the world. The Prime Minister said, ‘We should also consider deeply about the functioning of AI along with innovation and it should be discussed openly. AI has access to all and especially developing countries should also benefit from it because it is computing or electricity, talent or data or financial resources, there is the most excessive lack of capabilities.
Modi said that AI can change life by improving health, education and agricultural standards. At the same time, this global durability can ensure a sharp and easy path for all countries towards achieving goals. He said, ‘For this, we have to bring resources and talent together. We should develop such open source systems that help improve trust and transparency. We should prepare quality datasets without any prejudice. The technology should be provided to all and prepared a AI plan on the common people.
The Prime Minister’s remarks have come at a time when the debate on the open-source of AI’s development has intensified as all countries want to develop indigenous Foundation models for themselves. All the countries of the world are trying to buy a large number of graphics processing units as their companies are working towards developing the most advanced indigenous Foundation model.
In January this year, Chinese company Dipcik released the open-source model of its latest basic model R1. It has claimed that it has been developed at a much lower cost compared to the OpenAI Foundation model and its chat GPT.
