PAK vs SA: Babar Azam in Pakistan Test team, Naseem Shah returns, Shaheen still out, series is important from India’s point of view

Pakistan Team for South Africa Tour: Pakistan has announced the team for the upcoming South Africa tour, in which Mohammad Rizwan, Sam Ayub and Salman Ali Aga have been included in the three teams along with Babar Azam. This tour includes three T20s, three ODIs and two Tests, which will run from 10 December to 7 January. Fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, who also missed the last two Tests against England, has been selected for the white-ball matches under workload management. Naseem Shah has been selected for Test and ODI. Let us tell you, Babar Azam, Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi were dropped from the team for the remaining two Tests of the series after the innings defeat against England in the first Test in Multan.

This test series is important from India’s point of view

India and Australia are currently playing a five-Test series. India is currently leading 1-0 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. To reach the final of the ICC World Test Championship, it is necessary that Team India wins this series by 4-0. But if this does not happen then it will have to depend on the results of other teams. The South African team is currently at the second position in the points table of the World Test Championship and if it beats Pakistan 2-0 in the series, it will become stronger. But if South Africa loses even one match of this series, India will directly benefit from it.

Defended the decision to keep Shaheen out

Selection committee member and interim white-ball head coach Aaqib Javed said, “The omission of Shaheen Shah Afridi from the Test squad is a strategic decision to ensure that he is physically and mentally fresh for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.” Similarly, Fakhar Zaman’s name was not considered as he is yet to regain form and match fitness.”

Fast bowler Mohammad Abbas is also making a comeback to the Test team, having last played in Jamaica in August 2021. After missing the last two Tests against England, Naseem has also been included in the four-man fast bowling attack. Fast bowler Khurram Shahzad, who took 15 wickets for Pakistan Shaheens against Sri Lanka ‘A’ last month, has also been included in the Test team. The fourth fast bowler in the 15-member Test team is Mir Hamza.

Javed said, “It was a very tough and difficult decision to leave out Sajid Khan despite his brilliant performance against England. However, considering the conditions favorable to fast bowlers in Centurion and Cape Town, we chose Mohammad Abbas, who is known for seam bowling.” “Is the best player.”

This is the schedule of the series

Pakistan’s tour will begin with the first T20 match in Durban on 10 December, followed by the first ODI in Paarl on 17 December. The test matches will be played in Centurion and Cape Town on 26 December and 3 January respectively.
